Ball Feeder Ball Feeder

Encourages a more natural, slower eating pattern than feeding from a bucket. The Ball Feeder is a useful aid for relieving boredom or stress in the stable or paddock and for horses on box rest. Fill with pony nuts and let your horse explore how to release them. Small ‘rewards’ are dispensed as the ball is rolled around.

Care Instructions, wipe clean. Composition is plastic.

Customers say

Customers find the horse ball feeder keeps their animals entertained for hours and appreciate its durability, noting it’s made of hard plastic and should last for years. The feeder is worth the money, has a great color, and is easy to use. While it works well for small quarter horses, some mention the hole is too small, and customers note it’s loud on wood floors.

    Awesome GREAT DANE PUPPY Toy!
I purchased this for our Great Dane puppy… hours and hours of fun!! She loves it!! It is made of very hard plastic and it sounds like our house is being demolished but that’s ok, it makes her happy!! She carries in & outside and it has actually lasted us over a month (and still going!!) which is amazing!!! I did attempt to put a treat inside the hole but I had to take it out just as fast as I put it in, she was able to get her lower jaw down in the hole and I knew the toy was getting ready to be destroyed. She is very happy just being able to toss it around and loves how it flies across the wood, tile and concrete. She gets great exercise chasing it!! I’m sure she would love it even more if she could actually hear all the comotion she was causing, we love watching her play it!(We spoil our deaf Great Dane!)

    Horse loves it!
Arrived early, and horse is very entertained by it! Treats are harder to get out than it appeared they would be, so plenty to keep him busy!

    Durable
I’ve bought 3 of these, one for each of my horses. And they absolutely love them. The colors are bright so easy to find in the field later. So far they’ve held up pretty well. They haven’t broken but they definitely have their fair share of dents now, but that’s to be expected with a horse hoof kicking at them. Only one has cracked slightly in the plastic but still, it works and no complaints from me or my horses.

    helps with mule boredom
A well made tough and practical solution for boredom for my mule. He’s a food-driven creature, so giving him this toy with treats inside gives him something to fuss with. In the hot summer months I have been freezing carrot slices in water filling 1/3rd of the ball, then putting in more raw carrots on top of that. That way when I take it to him I drop it in his big feed tub and he gets the immediate reward of the first slices he can knock out. Then the ice melts and later he can have more carrot bits. I’m actually going to buy a second one so I can have one freezing while the other is with him in his stall. He is a powerful chewer and while he is able to dent this ball he has not chewed through any part of it.

    Durability!
This is very durable and I’m using it for a mini pig not a horse and I love it because it causes the pig to roll the toy several times to get a reward. The design is perfect to prevent boredom and offer stimulation! It’s very sturdy and is a great value for the money.

Both Good and Bad (depends on what is improtant to you)
This product appears to be well made (durable enough for horse play 😉 and is a nice price. For these reasons I gave it three stars. However, I do not like the “lip” that protrudes into the ball all around the exit hole. As the ball rolls, the last treats in the ball are caught by the lip and prevented from falling out, frustrating the horse. When my Quarter Horse mare gets frustrated, she gives up. When my Mustang gelding gets frustrated, he tends to destroy things. Not a pretty sight. :-So, if you get this ball, you will need to use dry treats (instead of pieces of fresh carrot or apple) because you will need to fill it at least half full (which is a lot of treats!), and take it away before it gets anywhere near empty to avoid horsey frustration. However, if you prefer to offer just a few fresh treats, then consider getting a Nose It! ball (also sold on Amazon). It does not have the interior lip problem. But, be forewarned, it is three times the price and the hole is just large enough for horses to damage slightly with their teeth if you leave it in with them when its empty (and your horse is like my Mustang). I don’t think the Shires Ball will have that problem due to its rounded edge around the hole (ie, the “lip”). So, everything’s a compromise. Also, be forewarned that the Shires Ball comes in a variety of colors and the one in the photo may not be the one you get. I had to return mine for that reason, as I wanted purple, but received pink. Horses see colors in the blue (purple) and yellow spectrum better than red (pink). If color matters to you, make sure the seller will send you the color you want before you order.

Il mio asinello lo ha apprezzato molto, ha capito quasi subito come funzionava, lo consiglio per distrarre i cavalli o gli asini che rimangono chiusi nel paddock..

Both myself and more importantly my horses love this treat ball. My previous treat ball had plenty of use and finally cracked and fell apart. So far this one is holding up extremely well. My gelding gently pushes it round his stable with his nose to get the treats out whereas my mare believes it’s best to kick it hard to release the treats! It is still looking as good as the day I bought it and it has had a lot of wear already. Highly recommend

It only has one hole so put in some bigger treats and it will keep your horse/pony happy for ages. Looks well used and his name in permanent marker on it is fading through use.
