A great addition to the home!!
I didn’t do the carpentry work, but I did supervise! It looked like the cutting and installation went very quickly and we did use the template to do the cutting which made things a lot easier and there were no problems. I had it installed into a solid wooden door leading down to the basement, so that I could keep the litter box down there. The frame of the cat door is white and stands out a little, but I feel like it fits well with the decor and does what it’s supposed to.
My cat is about a lean 12 pounds and gets in and out with no problem. The soft, magnetic flap makes it very easy for him to get in and out. There is also a removable plastic piece that you can slip in if you want to temporarily suspend access for one reason or another (people coming in and out of the basement to run propane lines, for instance!!)
It did take my cat a few days to “get it”; maybe 2 full days (but he’s not very smart…). I ended up taping the flap up for about 24 hours and enticing him back and forth with treats through the open hole, and then making a game when I finally un-taped it, throwing treats through the hole on both sides for him to retrieve and getting used to the flap. After maybe 4 days he was using it like a pro and he doesn’t hesitate at this point, about 2 months later, but he DIDN’T get it right away so don’t lose hope; just be patient.
I’m extremely happy!
**Update: 4 years later and 2 new cats have learned to use it! This has been an awesome tool and it has held up well from constant (multiple times per day!) use! The new cats are about the same size and aptitude level and 2 days seems about the norm.

Great doggy/kitty door.
Purchased this as a replacement door for our previous one. This has been an excellent replacement. The installation was fairly easy, the dogs and cat can use it well.
Sizing: Two Pomeranians and a 60 pound mixed breed use this door fairly easily. The larger breed is a tighter fit, but itâs no issue.
Iâve had this door installed for a several seasons now and itâs lasted well. The plastic flap is still in tact and has kept it shape. The plastic frame has also held up well and is easy to clean.

Excellent Cat Door
I researched a number of cat doors to find one that was safe for my cats to use. My concern was finding a cat door with a flexible flap so their tails and paws wouldn’t get caught or pinched. All of the cat doors in Home Depot and Lowes were the unacceptable hard flap type. It took me a while to find this one. One important point to consider. The minimum size you should purchase is medium. If you have Maine Coons or any of the bigger cats I would opt for large.
The interior door in question isn’t really a door, it’s a hinged wooden divider between the kitchen and den. This divider is about half the thickness of a regular door and thinner than the minimum thickness specified by the cat door. Overall, installing the cat door was easy by following the instructions but I still needed to frame it out a bit to compensate for the thinner divider. One thing I noticed – after the fact, unfortunately – is that the provided template used to cut out the door opening is too big (height-wise) for the cat door by almost two inches. It didn’t matter to me since I had to do some carpentry anyway but I would have been furious if this had been an expensive oak paneled door. My advice is to be careful when you measure the opening. Use the cat door itself as the cutting guide, not the template.
After a very short period of natural feline suspicion and avoidance, the cats began to use the door. At the beginning we had to coax them through but now they use it constantly without any human intervention. The cat door is top quality, the cats love it, and I’m glad I made the purchase.
My rating is 4-stars only because of the template issue.

I have 3 cats of varying sizes and intelligence levels. We have a maine coone, a tabby that is a pure space cadet, and a small kitten. We recently purchased a home and we don’t have an ideal spot to place their litter indoors, so we moved it to the garage. We needed a way for them to get in and out, and this is what I found to be the most effective for our needs. To install in our aluminum door, you use part of the frame to mark the cut. I used a jigsaw with a metal blade, and it worked great. The hole was the slightest bit small, so I filed it with a metal file until this unit slid in snug. Snapped both sides together and installed the included screws. The flap is durable yet flexible plastic. Many of these with hard door flaps can trap the cats tail and cause injury or to even avoid the flap. This one doesn’t have that problem. All of our cats are well-endowed in the tail area, and their tails slide right through. The flap has a magnet at the bottom that keeps the flap sealed to keep in (or out) smells and bugs. It works great and our cats love it. We were worried that our dumb cat couldn’t figure it out. She still uses her paw to push it open instead of her head like the other kitties. She’s special, but we love her. Highly recommend this.

Wanted a large, soft cat flap that wouldn’t get stuck, thereby locking the cats in or out, like our old one did. This works perfectly and looks pretty smart as well. As an added bonus, it comes with a solid plastic plate that can be slotted in to block the opening entirely, so that if you want you can keep the cats indoors (e.g. fireworks night, etc) or indeed outdoors (sounds cruel, but very helpful if your cats are hunters like ours â occasionally we’ll spot them from the kitchen window coming down the garden with a ‘present’ for us; chocolates, flowers, wine, etc, are always appreciated, mice and birds no so much!

He comprado varios para poder tener puertas cerradas y que mis gatos tengan acceso a las habitaciones o al patio y no me vuelvan loca en lo que deciden si quieren entrar o salir. Fácil de instalar, pero considera que necesitas una sierra caladora y taladro. En mi caso quite las cubiertas de plástico y solo los dejé abiertos. También tiene una cubierta con la que puedes quitar cerrar totalmente. Compre el mediano porque tengo un gato másâ¦llenito y fue perfecto para el.

We had to get the medium because we were replacing another pet door with a fairly large hole (otherwise the small would have been fine) – but we are so glad to have this! Hubby says it was very easy to install (I wouldn’t know about that). It is FAR better than our old one (from a very well known (and pricey) pet supply company). It is clearly better construction, works great. but here’s what I REALLY love: We have to have a soft flap because one of my dummies tries to stick his paw through and pull it back and gets stuck and frightened with the kind that have the hard flap you can lock in place. My “other” pet door had a SNAP ON cover that was almost impossible to get on (often I didn’t actually manage, and then the cats would just knock it out), and actually impossible (for me) to pry off. Fortunately 😉 I LOST the cover somehow which is why we got this one as a replacement. (the other company sells replacement covers that cost as much as this whole door). THIS one has a cover that just slides in from the top, super easy, super smooth, 2 seconds and it is securely in place. I’ll definitely take care not to lose that one!

My dachshund and Maltese are very happy now. They are going in and out of the house freely and I dont have to wake up during the night anymore. Dont know why i didn’t get it sooner. Its very easy to install and it comes with a cover to close up the doggie door when the family goes away.
