Vibrant and fluffy
If you’re in the herp hobby, you know not all moss is created equal. That bright green stuff found in floral departments isn’t great. It’s dyed and the colors can run (along with whatever mystery chemicals are in the dye). Long fiber sphagnum has always been my go-to for adding humidity, but the cost has gone up so much in the past few years. It’s really only economical if you buy the big hundred dollar bales.This fits nicely in the middle. It’s got great color with natural variations, high loft and good-sized chunks, not the short strand scraps that come in other packages. The best part: The smell. It’s so earthy and natural. You can’t fake that, so I know it’s unprocessed.At first, I was sceptical. The moss arrives in a 1-inch thick brick. I thought it might do one enclosure at most. After soaking (about 10 minutes), I had a full bin of thick, fluffy vibrant green moss – more than enough to stock all 8 of my gecko enclosures. I only used a few handfuls per enclosure because this holds a good amount of water. My ladies are going to have a great egg laying areas, and my difficult shedder will get the moisture he needs to pull the skin suit off easily.

I have used many mosses and substrate products and this, by far, smells the worst. Please keep that in mind when purchasing.

Great for gardening and propagation work
I do a ton of different gardening and propagation projects that I use sphagnum moss for, which is why I ordered this product. I love when I order something online and it exceeds my expectations like this moss has, it’s better quality that the last batch I ordered from a different company, and I’m so relieved. It’s nice green and soaks up water well and quickly, and looks healthy and alive. It doesn’t have a lot of other plant material like other brands I’ve tried either, and is in nice big chunks and not just shreds that fall apart. Overall, since this is good sphagnum moss I would consider ordering it again and I do recommend it to others.

moss to help provide humidity
We recently acquired a hermit crab pet and wanted something to spruce up his habitat and provide humidity – this Helidrago Sphagnum moss looks nice in his enclosure – it looks better if used according to directions as the water fluffs it up and helps give the habitat humidity.It came packaged in a solid little brick, as pictured – and once you activate it with water it holds it well. I’m new to the hermit crab world but I think this moss was just what we needed to give Hermie a bit more hydration!

Strong Smell
I have a crab habitat and use moss to maintain the moisture in the tank. I have used natural moss in the past but has not maintained moisture like I had hopped. I got this one hoping it to be different. I soaked it for over 20mins hoping it would absorb enough moisture. After a week it still is holding moisture and my crabs love it. The only downside to this moss is that there is a smell initially that has somewhat of a chemical smell. It has diminished some what but I would have preferred that the a more earthy smell.
