Perfect for beginning
I bought this set knowing that I used to love fishing as a teenager, and hoping to get back into it. It took me several months, but after I finally starting using them, caught many small bass and perch. I am starting to replace these now, with better, but I’m extremely happy with the purchase.The good: these are extremely versatile, easy to carry, can be put in a car/seat/bucket, and the reels are OK considering the price point. Probably after your tenth use (on the reel), you’ll start to notice a wiggle, but if you’re fishing that much, you already got your $12 out of it. ($50/4 pieces=$12.50)I only have three complaints, and considering the money, it didn’t knock down the stars. One, the top extension wouldn’t collapse after several uses. Two, the rod is not as responsive as a solid piece rod.Don’t count on the tackle being good for anything. I really wasn’t expecting this, but maybe some are.If your looking for a gift for someone whose beginning, looking to see if you still like fishing, want to have some cheap sets on hand for friends/family that don’t fish a lot or maybe as a couple back up rod/reel sets these are great and I highly recommend them.

Economical combo
4 star for affordability, and great beater rod & reel combo for kids. The eyes of the rod is a bit uneven, but usable. The reels are pure garbage. This setup is like those emergency survival kits. Overall, it should fish fine for smaller fish, and please upgrade the reel if attempting for larger species.

Not even worthy of being a backup
Both rods broke in under a month with minimal use on small 1 – 2lb fish at most.Rod #1: Out of the box the reel had a grinding sound/feeling with heavy resistance and would catch frequently causing my lure and hook to fly back at me on cast. Hooked into my shoulder because of this. After about 3 weeks the handle fell off. Turns out the screw-on cap opposite the handle gets loose quickly when reeling in and it fell off at some point. This pole is now unusable because the reel handle is no longer anchored to the rod and now just falls out on use.Rod #2: Didn’t have the same grinding as the first rod but within a single day the reverse switch broke. Now regardless of physically switching on and off, reverse is turned on making it harder to actually hook a fish that bites. That also means if you’re not gripping the line at rest it’ll reel itself out.They weren’t expensive but you get what you pay for. Would not recommend, especially not for kids as the defects led to several self hooks on cast.

Plastic reel holder&cheap string
These would be 5star if the string wasnt the cheapest of the cheap and tangled with every other cast. The are super light and compct and very easy to travel with. The brackets that hold the reels in place are plastic and can easily break if over tightened so be careful! I think once I change the string this might actually be worth purchasing but so far its been more of a headache than anything. By the way this is NOT for anything more than retention pond or lake fishing 1lb fish AT THE VERY MOST.

Amazing little rods easy to carry and set up. The line it comes with is pretty bad but overall it’s a good product! I’d recommend taking the line off and re spooling right away to save time lol. Also was pretty dry so had to lube up the reels good but now it’s solid!

This products are good for kids. Light and looks same as adults one. Kids love them. Fishing reel sometimes lose the line, but it’s easy to use.

The line wraps around itself and the rods are cheaply made. Not to mention that they don’t both for in the back without taking the reels off.

Very nice product good quality, make sure you thread the string under the metal bracket and make sure it turns before placing the hook and weights, otherwise you must cut everything and start over .best of luck hope I was helpful

Just overall poor quality. Worried it will just fall apart if you try to cast with it. Very light though and retractable so itâs very easy to bring it with you when you go for a trip.
