About Us
Thanks for visiting our small biz, Travel Cat.
Emily & Ian here, co-founders (and also, husband and wife). Like many of you, we we inspired by our cats. Our first cat Andie, who we rescued on a whim after finding her abandoned in the back yard of a family member in 2017. We became “cat people” pretty much overnight and quickly noticed there was and still is a lack of products and companies dedicated exclusively to cats.
How did we get our start?
Shortly after we have adopted our first cat, we have decided to launched Your Cat Backpack by Travel Cat.
What problem are we solving?
We are on a mission to help people realize that cats aren’t “easy” because they sleep all day. Cats need enrichment and playtime to live happy and healthy lives.

Seemed comfortable and didnât cover too much
The size was pretty good, got a medium for my girl (12.5 lbs) and a large for my boy (15-16 lbs). It seems pretty secure, neither of my cats have been able to escape from them. The colors are great, they look so cute and stand out. I do think the value for money is pretty good as both my cats are a bit on the older side (2.5 yrs as opposed to kittens) and this is the first time Iâve tried to harness train them so I expected them to take much longer to get used to them, but after only a week they stopped fidgeting so much in them and started playing in them much more! I want to say thats because the harness seems pretty comfortable so they realized itâs really not that bad. While trying to harness train them, theyâve only worn them for a couple minutes each day inside before I take them off to slowly get them acclimated and itâs going well. Havenât taken them outside yet but itâs much too cold here for now anyways.

Confortable and Secure
This is the third harness I have used with my cat and it is by far the best. The shape and material make it comfortable for him. The harness shape, the closure being on top, the routing and adjustability of the straps, and the leash attaching to both sides of the harness make it very secure. The previous harness from a different manufacturer fit tightly, but he could still wriggle out of it when he was persistent. I’ve taken him for six 30 min walks so far, and he is perfectly fine wearing it. He got spooked a couple times and tried to run up a driveway, and he spun around and around trying to get out of the harness but it stayed in place. Great product!

Nice and thick harness with reflective properties and stylish colors.
I love the way it looks on my cat. And it fits really well. I like the way the harness is connected and supports from both sides. My Kitty is still a little nervous about wearing a harness. So she was able to slip out a couple of times, But i’m going to keep working with her and i’m sure the we will use this a lot in the spring.

Learning to love it!
I wasnât sure I liked this harness when I first put it on my cat, but after fiddling around with it and getting her used to wearing it, Iâve come to really like it! Let me say this now: the straps on the shoulders MUST BE TIGHTENED for this thing to fit properly. That might sound like a no brainer, but they werenât tightening right when I first tried so I gave up. After messing with them even more, Iâve been able to make the harness fit much better. I bought a small and while I think my 7lb adult girlie could have made due with the X-small, I think the straps have her pretty secured.The first two pictures have the straps not properly tightened and you can see how loose they hang. The last two pictures she is properly fitted and she seems to feel more comfortable. Less of the harness wearing her and more her wearing the harness. She did get spooked at one point and didnât slip out, but I still donât trust that itâs 100% inescapable. So far so good!

Fits well
Fits well. Cats liked it ok. Not escape proof; if they start to back up they can pull out of halter.I have Maine Coon and the quality of the halter didnât hold up to these guys at all. Some of the negatives were their long hair got in the Velcro and it no long stuck together. The sewing on the edging pulled apart and the Velcro patches were coming apart.

I had a feeling this was overpriced crap
I measured my cat like 20 times to be sure to order the right size. I checked and rechecked. Still, when this piece of crap arrived I couldnât believe I spent $30 on a piece of crap I was so disappointed so angry and mad that my hard earned saved money went to this⦠i did not expect the quality to be so crappy! Omg! It didnt even fit him!!! What!?? Hopefully i can give it away to someone who can use it⦠get a bigger size than what would be perfect according to their measurement instructions.. but my advice is dont buy this piece of crap at all. Omg. The cheapest crappiest materials. Its not good. The shape of it didnt even make sense, as it squished his shoulder blade area⦠like⦠this product isnt right. I spent hours researching what to purchase and i finally decided i would spend the money to get the best. It makes me very angry to spend great time AND money and be served crap. It pretty much sums up my experience of life but i dont accept it as acceptable. I bought another harness that is more minimal and was highly rated in an in depth video review of multiple products. I wanted the security of a cloth harness but it just didnt fit well, or fit how they said. Why bother writing instructions like that, and making a product thats crap??? Seriously it boils my blood. Theres people wasting their days and working their fingers to the bone, to produce this crap! Ah!!! Dont buy it. You can return my money for this and the stupid backpack if you want me to take down my review thanks.

We like to call it his visi-vest and he loves it (or he loves the fact he gets to go outside finally)! Fit perfectly – but I measured him a few times to make sure I got a good snug fitting harness as he is an escape artist. I know ALL about the kitty cat back up and wiggle out move and I just make sure that the vest is on nice and snug and I donât try and pull (or let him pull) in reverse. Nothing but happy with this purchase!

I love this harness, my cat can’t escape from this one, and there’s room for his future growth. It’s nice and light and breathable as we get hot summers here in Australia.Will send a pic of him wearing it when my kitty arrives. After having used quite a few different types of kitty harnesses, this design is by far my favorite. It doesn’t mess up my cat’s fur as much as the simpler designs and the triple safety works well: velcro, straps and the double leash attachments.Unfortunately the “fuzz” side of the velcro they use is weak and disintegrates quickly. My first Travel Cat lasted a couple of months and my second one lasted only 2 weeks. I’ll need to figure out how to sew proper velcro loop material to fix this once and for all. I just wish the manufacturer would invest the extra 50 cents to make this perfect from day one. :-/
