Perfect Light For Curved Fish Bowls or Terrariums
I just moved this 3 gallon planted bowl (purchased from a local craft store with a 50% off coupon) to a bedside shelf, and needed a better light for it. The other light I had sat on the top of the bowl and just wasnât as pretty (though it worked well), and I didnât want cats swatting a desk lamp into the water (because if they could, they would). It is a snail/shrimp bowl. The light is quite lovely, and it makes the colors pop. I have another lower wattage one on a one gallon terrarium, and it grows similar low-light plants quite well, so figured this one would do well with anubias, Java fern, Java moss, Marino moss balls, and moneywort (in the back). The neck of the light bends for perfect adjustment on curved surfaces, and the magnet holds well. It doesnât have an on/off switch, or a usb plug-in, so youâll have to get those separately. I used a Kasa mini smart plug, and set the hours for the light to come on and off. Honestly, itâs easier this way, as I never have to worry about turning it off, or it getting left on (causing an algae bloom), and the Kasa app automatically adjusts for daylight savings. If I have any issues, Iâll update with those problems. As of now, itâs perfect for my needs.I hope this review/photo helps another hobbyist to choose whether this light is right for them.Update: unfortunately, this light did not work for my bowl, but it could still work for certain sized applications (for example taller/skinnier aquariums/terrariums or bowls/wider tanks with a higher-light, focal-type plant only in the middle of the tank). My bowl is wider, rather than tall. This light is primarily focused all in one area in the center, with some (but less) light spreading to the sides. This caused algae growth on my middle plants, while neglecting to produce enough light for my plants on the outer edges. A longer/bar-type light works better for longer aquariums and bowls. However, the lower-wattage version of this light works very well on my one gallon jar, which is taller, rather than long, and the light disperses more evenly to all areas of the jar. This higher wattage version does stick well to the glass, and produces plenty of full-spectrum light, and looks great, but needs a vase-type or tall aquarium, or would be pretty for a higher light focal-type plant growing in the middle of a bowl (with possibly a few low-light plants on the edges ð).

Compact, bright, and stylish!
I was a little skeptical at first but all that went away as soon as I set it up. I purchased the smaller version of the two (the 100 lumens one) and it has worked great with my 3 gallon jarraruim. The light itself is as bright as it is advertised, adequate for a small planted tank or jar. I would not recommend this for more than a 3 gallon tank, although perhaps 5 gallons would work in a stretch. You would need 2 or 3 for a 10 gallon. The cord is about 6 feet long and streachy, it is permanently attached to the body. The body of the light is made of soft rubber which is HOPEFULLY aquarium safe. The magnetic part itself is not actually completely sealed, which also leads me to worry about corrosion. However, on those two points only time will tell. The light itself does get very warm, although not hot enough to burn. I will monitor the heat to make sure it does not burn the floating plants in my jar.Overall, a GREAT light for the price! Love it!Update: This light has been up for about a month and I have noticed no corrosion, it is bright enough and at the proper wavelength for growth, it is not hit enough to burn floating plants. ð

Almost perfect
This light is great! There is only one thing that I would change and that is to make it touch activated. Wish you could just tap the top to turn on and off vs. having to unplug it.

What an amazing little light
Wow! What a light. This little light is amazing. I use it over a 3 gallon betta cube and it looks amazing. I have a java fern and an anubias nana and I think this light is the perfect fit for it. It is a little pricey for a light this size but the quality is there. It uses only 5 Osram leds but it puts out a lot of light. The color temperature looks like it might use one 5500k as the center led and the four outer are 6500k, perfect for low to mid light plants depending on the tank it sits on. The only downside is that it uses a USB plug and you have to supply your own adapter. Luckily, I have plenty adapters laying around. For the price, it probably should have been included. Overall, the light is excellent.

No on/off switch or outlet plug attachment.
The light is very bright and works better than expected, however there isnt an on/off switch so it had to be unplugged to turn it off and plugged back I to turn it on which will cause wear and tear on the cord and it doesn’t come with an outlet attachment just a USB so you will have to purchase one separately.

Just Bad
When I received this item I had to rifle through the packaging. I thought to myself this can’t actually be what I pay the better part of almost fourty some dollars. It consists of one LED bulb in a cheap case. There’s no way to senseable attach or place it so it effectively lights anything. I couldn’t believe how much I was out on this product. I you enjoy of these bulbs together to form a regular effective lighting solution the price I paid for one bulb, the light would cost a virtual fortune. Do not fall for this mess. It’s an outrageously expensive mess and definitely not worth the asked price.

This light does not have an arm or support for it to stay up. No magnet to attach it to glass or bowl. Returned for refund

They work great for my 3 gallon bowls

My betta loves this!! Very bright and magnetic is very strong. You do however need a charging cube to connect the USB into so I suggest ordering one at the same time or getting one prior to your orders arrival. I do wish that it had a brightness level to adjust it.

Great little light, magnet is great feature especially for table top small tanks with integrated filter as there is no room for a clamp type light. Put this on a 3 gallon grows anubias and java fern without issue. 4 star rating as no on off switch. Purchased lamp switch adapter for about $10 on amazon to use with light so now it has on/off switch.

works amazingly! I set it to a wall using two screws! Unfortunately I didn’t really think things through, changed it out with my old light and got a bunch of algae :s
