Perfect for a bird that can’t eat seeds.
Our bird was raised on this product and so can’t eat seeds. He likes this food, I tried another brand when this one was back ordered and he only ate certain colors of that food. He eats all of the various colors in this brand. When you open the bag it smells like fruit.

My bird liked the food. Less mess than seed.

My bird likes it.
Good price. Arrived on time. Has a bit of ‘dust’ (pulverized pellets), but it’s mostly in tact. Well worth the price. I’ve tried various pellets and this is the first my bird has been interested in.

… weaned my 2 quakers onto this food and they love it. They are 4 months old right now
I weaned my 2 quakers onto this food and they love it. They are 4 months old right now. I don’t know why but they leave the purple and the red pieces. I guess they don’t like those. With this food, I don’t worry about them not getting enough nutrients. I took them to the vet and she said they were really healthy. The only thing she suggested was breaking up some Tums into their food bowls (about 1 per day) so that they could have more calcium while they grow. I get the fruit flavored Tums and they love those, too. My birds aren’t really picky eaters but they do act like new foods are trying to attack them so I was happy when they took well to this food. This is their daily diet. I use Nutriberries on occasion when they’ve been really good at someone else’s house.

This pellet is fantastic!!
I have been buying this pellet for many years because my birds all absolutely love it! Every new bird I bring in ends up liking this pellet. They taste great wet and dry! You can give your bird a treat by putting some hot water into the dish, away from where your bird can reach, and let it cool, and let the pellets soak up the water. Then, while still warm, feed it to your bird. Also great for weaning birds, as you can wet it the way I described and hand feed it to them until they eat it themselves. Add less and less water, until they are eating it dry, and you have a bird weaned on healthy pellets!!

Average pellet – not great, but, will provide adequate nutrition
I used these pellets for years, until recently my old man bird had to go on a prescription diet (and my younger bird made the switch with him since they are cage-mates and eat the same food.). For the years I had the birds on these pellets they ate it with no complaints. The couple of times I tried to switch them to non-rainbow food (even identical-except-for-the-lack-of-dye pellets made by Kaytee!) they threw fits. So, there was something about it they liked. They used to go through and eat the food one color at a time – they were kind of obsessive about it.Pros:- It’s a pellet. Much better for your bird than seed. It seemed to meet my birds’ nutritional needs, and the avian vet complimented them on their weight and body condition.- Rainbow colors can persuade picky eaters to try a pellet.- Even though it doesn’t matter to the birds one iota (since they have almost no sense of smell), it does have a pleasant fruity smell.- Widely available (easy to get – important for animals that resist diet changes as staunchly as cockatiels) and inexpensive.Cons:- Those rainbow colors are caused by dyes that cockatiels can have a hard time digesting. The pellets turned my birds’ poo all sorts of exciting colors for the years they were on this. It also causes the poo to stain whatever it gets on much more noticeably due to the dyes — think long red, orange, and green splotches on any fabric they happen to poo on.- Not, perhaps, the best tasting or highest quality pellet on the market. (That’s what got them to switch to the prescription food – it’s not rainbow in color but it apparently tastes much better. They switched cold turkey no fuss no muss. Easiest food conversion I’d ever done with birds).Overall a decent product for healthy cockatiels — not the best pellet, but far, far better than seeds. If giving them rainbow colored food is the only way to get your bird off of seed then this one is entirely satisfactory.
