Customers say
Customers find the aquarium cleaner effective, particularly for smaller water changes, and appreciate its ease of use with the bulb start feature. The cleaning power is positive, with customers noting it picks up dirt from substrate quickly, and the medium size works well for 50G aquariums. However, the build quality, value for money, and suction power receive mixed reviews – while some find it well-made and worth the money with good suction, others report it falling apart and being not worth the cost. Additionally, water flow experiences are mixed, with some customers reporting quick drainage while others find it too fast.

This Product Sucks – Which Is Good!
Gotta say, didn’t expect much, especially after I took it out of the box. Expected more of a siphon than a vacuum. That said, once I figured out how to use it, I have to admit, it’s pretty darn effective. It does work on the siphon principle, so you need a bucket lower than the aquarium is to keep the flow going (some reviewers seemed to have a problem with that). However, once you get the flow moving (keep squeezing the ball until the water starts), I had no problems with it stopping on me. Suction was good enough to scoot the gravel around and clean it, but not so strong it tried to suck it out of the tank. Can also be used just to skim water off the top, although that’s not its forte. The materials are OK (I’ve used it several times and it hasn’t fallen apart). I’m sure after a couple of years it will hit it’s end of life though (this won’t be a family heirloom). Until then, it should do the job. I recommend it for what it is, a low cost siphon vac.

Overkill for my small tank but fast water changes!
I needed something with a longer vacuum tip to keep my Caribsea sand on the bottom of the aquarium instead of in the water bucket. Since this was made in the USA and I plan to get a bigger tank in the future, I went ahead and bought it. I do not regret it.My betta fish has a big tank all to himself and he absolutely hates water changes. Correction: he hates water coming out, but he loves swimming in the clean, fresh water afterwards. This gadget lets me do a 2-4 gallon water change in under 20 minutes, including scrubbing down the tank walls. Happy fish and happy human.

Works very wlle and holds up
One weak point is no way to prevent small snails or fish from being sucked up. If they make it into the squeeze, it has to be taken apart to remove the problem. When taken apart, it may not work properly unless you add duct tape to the green connector to make the rubber on the squeeze hold properly. It could use a screen or something similar to block this from happening. Otherwise, this is the best siphon for fish I have found yet. I use it to clean over 200 tanks a week.

Durable and effective
The Python Pro-Clean Siphon, is great for my aquarium needs, it is larger than I thought, which turned out to be great, my hands or arms do not have to go into the water, I rinsed it, once it got it, put it in my tank, pumped it up and watched it work, now I must say, depending on your tank size, you will need a deep bucket. Pull it up when it is finished and you are good to go, it siphons fast and you can guide the tube to where you want it without sucking up your fish in the process. I would highly recommend it and my fish will be much happier and so will I.

Works perfectly
I change 3/4 of the water in my aquatic turtle’s tank every week or two. for years I was using a much smaller diameter hose, as my tanks have gone up in size. Decided to splurge one day while shopping on Amazon and this popped up as a suggested add-on. My local big-box pet store wants $20 for this model, so for a third of that I figured what they heck.Glad I did… this thing empties water about 3x as fast, making my water-changing duties a lot faster. I put the hose in an empty bucket, and by the time I walk 30 feet to the sink, dump it and return, the other bucket is full. Perfect for my needs.

Decent but less than I expected
It works well. Better than using like a cup or bucket. I feel like maybe it’s too big for my tank. I have a 20 gallon and alot of decorations with my little fish. It drains the tank super quick and is easy to start but it’s just not sucking up the gravel and cleaning it like I thought it would

So glad I ended up buying this gravel cleaner
So glad I ended up buying this gravel cleaner! The squeeze piece on my Aqueon gravel cleaner was cheap plastic & cracked like crazy. I tried this one tonight on my 70 gallon turtle tank & it worked beautifully!! Filled up 4 buckets in less than 10 minutes. It was super easy to use too. I do wish it had another plastic tube piece on the other end of the sqeeuze end but I can live without with the way it works. Big thumbs up! Can’t wait to use it on my fish tank now :). I would totally recommend this if your on the fence like I was.

Junk -100 rating
First it was leaking around the bulb then it literally fell apart bulb fell off on top of that could not figure out why suction was low until it fell apart. It has a ball in side of it that is aback Flo preventer about the size of a dime and the hole for it is even smaller. In my opinion it is just flat out junk donât waste your mone I would not even rate it a one but thatâs as low as I can go.

I’m back in aquarium hobby after about 25 years away from it. I used to have a great gravel cleaner and the first two brands I tried this time around were a joke. I learned about the Python brand and it’s GREAT, glad to have a good working gravel cleaner again, something to enjoy using with how well it works 🙂

Great suction power and having the siphon squeeze included makes it good value for the price. Wish the vacuum tube was a bit taller as I find it short to clean my 20 gal and it’s supposed to be used in up to 30 gal aquariums.

No instructions on how to use this on the package but once you learn how, this thing works amazingly.See below:1. put bucket or container lower than your tank2. with one hand, submerge suction side of siphon into water horizontally at an angle to try and fill the whole tube3. once filled, you can turn it vertically4. with priming bulb in other hand, lift it above the suction side and make sure that the discharge opening(green open tip of bulb) is facing the sky5. pump bulb repeatedly, until water starts to flow towards the bulb6. once it is close, put your thumb over the opening and turn the bumb discharge opening into the bucket.7. here comes the water!8. once you are done siphoning, lift suction side out of water to stop flow.9. face suction side up towards sky and lift up to drain remaining water out of hose into bucket10. rinse an coil up

The point where the pipe meets the squeezer isn’t even watertight or sealed in in any way, I couldn’t even get it working once. Utterly perplexing given the quality of other Python products. Returned
