Bacter AE Micro Powder adds important microorganisms, amino acids and enzymes to your aquarium. It enhances water quality and improves the development of biofilms, which are essential for shrimp. The biofilms thus created provide them with a valuable staple food rich in beneficial proteins, especially improving the survival rate of young shrimplets. In addition, live probiotic bacteria improve the nutrient uptake of the shrimp and influence their digestive processes in a positive way.

The contained bacteria in Bacter AE Micro Powder cultures are activated as soon as they come into contact with water. They remove toxic substances and, together with all the other carefully fine-tuned components, they provide your aquarium with a good microclimate.

Dosage (for 120 Liter)
• lowly stocked: daily 1/2 measuring spoon*
• normally stocked: daily 1 measuring spoon*

Moreover, the product improves biofilm development, and customers consider it a must-have for shrimp keepers, with one noting it’s especially good for filter shrimp. Additionally, the growth rate is positive, with shrimp becoming more active, and customers consider it good value for money. However, the ease of use receives mixed feedback, with some finding it easy to use while others report difficulties.

Vastly improved survival rates of baby shrimp
This is a great product. After ordering it arrived very quickly and was well-packaged. The jar itself is also well designed. After unscrewing the top cover it reveals an inner lid. The small measuring scoop rest on the lid and stays separated from the powdered food. The inner lid also prevents the food from turning into dust particles in the air upon opening. It also May save the food if dropped while opening. The food itself is in powdered form and is extremely fine. To Add to the tank by measuring out a portion and allow it to dissolve on the surface of your water. The water column quickly fills with food. ( Taken from the back of Jar) “Bacter AE is designed to add important microorganisms amino acids and enzymes to your aquarium it enhances water quality and improves the development of biofilms which are essential for shrimp the biofilms created provide them with a valuable staple food rich in live probiotic bacteria it improves the nutrient uptake of the shrimp and influences their digestive processes in a positive way. Contains amino acids, polysaccharides, xylanase, glucanase, amylase, protease, hemicellulase, bacillus subtilis, pediococcus acidilactici (lacrobacillus)”. Once built up in your tank it should Supply a nearly endless supply of food for baby shrimp improving survival rates and allowing you to raise healthier shrimp that are better quality and are more numerous than ever before I’m a True Believer in this product. I have also added bacter AE to my guppy tank. As all fish need biofilms to support their climate. They do not seem to feed on it as readily as but in my opinion it does improve the fishes stress and comfort level. And in my opinion as well provides every surface with a nice coating of biofilm making it harder for certain types of algae from clinging on to a surface. It also May prevent your fish from scratching him or herself on rough surfaces. As the biofilm acts as a mild lubricant.

Lots of ppl misuse this product. Let me explain..
I attribute this misconception to the manufacturer and the instructions based on the label. This product is a biofilm enhancer. Not food for shrimp. This powder should be applied to tanks struggling to form green algae on there tanks (which normally only is needed in high tech tanks with CO2 injection or newly cycling tanks.).When I start a new tank I apply 1 spoon full (per 20g) with (no inverts or fish in the tank). Wait 2 weeks, perform 50% water change then apply 1/2 spoon full. wait another two weeks, followed by yet another water change this time at 80-90%. By 1 month the algae should be well developed and be an adequate food source for your inverts. It should be noted that this process of growing biofilm does not need bacter AE, it will happen all on its own, this merely accelerates the process. This does not including the process for nitrifiying bacteria (commonly referred to as new tank cycling. Refer to Dr. Tims or Frtiz nitrifying bacteria for these.Cons:can leads to sulfur producing bacteriareduces water quality/clarityCan produce toxic ammonia spikesPros:Produces nice BIOFILM * not direct food source*Take home message: Do not follow feeding instructions use 1/100-1/20 of the directed amount. Only when starting a new tank or when algae eaters are low. Be patient.

    Works great
Works great for my shrimp. Only complaint is how they slap stickers over the directions. I probably use a little under half the recommended dosing, and it’s been working great in my tank

    I trust the shrimp!
I’ve got years of experience with unfiltered planted tanks (thank you, Konrad Lorenz), but am new to shrimp. I started two tanks with java fern, bacopa and rotala, and order two batches of neocaridina. I started them off on a pellet food, assuming that the tanks had not established sufficient biofilm. The shrimp took well to it, especially the orange sakuras – I’d have 9 out of the 12 in the feeding tray within 1/2 hour of placing the food (mostly hungry gravid females). When I received this product, I mixed up a very small portion of the recommended amount as a test run, and the shrimp loved it! They were foraging all over the tank substrate and plants to graze on it and were very active. The next day I reverted to the pellet food and they completely shunned it. I’m going to back off the pellets gradually, maybe feeding them twice a week or so just for a gradual transition and to see how the shrimplets prosper in the new tank, but my general first impression is very positive!

    Fantastic for Neocaridina shrimp
Used BacterAE with my shrimp for many, many years. Great for shrimplets as they are sessile (non-moving) when they are released from momma shrimp, and the adults love it as well.Spreads throughout the entire tank very easily.Comes with a little plastic scoop and good for large colonies (I usually feed once a week with scoop for 50+ adults).Be careful overfeeding as you can get algae blooms if you don’t have enough shrimp or snails.

Looks like the right stuff. Need to try it for a whlie. Ask me late.r
Seems to be what I paid for. Going to take time before I know whether the shrimp are loving it. It didn’t make my tank as cloudy as I expected. A fellow shrimper said that it usually clouds the tank for a few minutes and then it settles and you see them enjoying it. I think he might pour more than I do per tank volume. I followed the instructions on the side.Note: It says to do a half dose for a while until bacteria establishes. You don’t want to suddenly make bacteria types spike, I suppose. Probably throws off other bacteria balances, I suppose.Note: This is super powdery. Be more careful with this than you are with fish flake food. If it spills, you will not clean it all up. If it dumps into your tank, it will probably resist because of surface tension for a while, which will give you time to scoop out with a big net. But if you take too long it’ll be too late.

This food is obviously great for the shrimp but DO NOT use it as instructed. They advise you to use FAR TOO MUCH. Your nitrates will go through the roof and you will make a snail-factory out of your tank. Tiny amounts are needed to encourage the bio-film in your tank and increase the survival of shrimplettes. It’s a great product but look into it and talk to experienced shrimp keepers before using it.
