Convenient option for a clean, healthy environment for all types of animals!
This is a great value! Our family has kept reptiles and/or arthropods for 14 years. We have been through a lot of substrate! Coconut Husks are a great option for reptiles or arthropods. Coconut fiber often molds easily, but this substrate uses coconut husks, which retain moisture while remaining breathable. This prevents bacteria growth, which also means it lasts longer! Our critters (turtle, ball pythons, scorpion, tarantula) love it! One brick offers a decent amount for one medium sized cage. It doesn’t take excessively long to soak and expand, so it’s a convenient and lower mess option for exotic keepers. I like this product a lot!

Exactly as described
I’ve been using coconut husk substrate in my reptile enclosures for years. I can’t say that this one is substantially different than any other I’ve used for my snakes in that time. I treated it as I would any other, tossed the brink into a bucket of water to soak. It broke up easily, so then I blend in some sphagnum moss and toss the moist mix into the ball python enclosure. She seems to approve. It works well for us. No major smell, no sharp/dangerous bits found while mixing…I especially appreciate the ease of size selection in ordering. I normally buy larger blocks because its more economical (we have multiple reptile enclosures that use this substrate), but if I didn’t have a whole zoo, I’d really like the smaller brick sizes!

Great plant soil additive!
This is an excellent additive to a soil mixture if you mix your own soils at home. I prefer to have control in my soil contents to ensure that im giving my plants the drainage and water retention that they need. This coconut husk provides substance for my plant’s roots to grab onto and allows aeration in the soil. It ensures that water has room to move through the soil while not sitting on and rotting the roots. It arrives as a compact brick and requires being broken apart or soaked. It had no smell and was very easy to work with. It measured in at a true 1.1 lbs, while it was compressed and nearly doubled in size once it absorbed water. Overall it is a great value for the cost and functions as intended.

Great for snakes
I added this to my snake’s substrate to give him some variety, but also help the soil hold up while he burrowed. It comes compact and fluffs up when water is added. It was easy to add in. The cost is excellent for how much you are getting. Overall, good choice.

Great plant substrate
Great substrate for potting orchids or other moisture-loving terrarium plants. simply rehydrate it and use it by itself or mix it with another substrate. One rehydrated brick yields about 1 gallon.

Good quality coco chunks, price could be better.
This brick of chunks is good quality. It breaks apart decently when wet and it forms a decent substrate floor, or makes a GREAT addition to a mixed soil/substrate base. I’m happy with the chunk size and it smells clean and ‘natural’. It is pretty simple to clean up and works very well for critters that poop larger poop. You can easily just remove the chunks that have the poo on them. Visually, you will like your display better if you mix in something else with it (I don’t want to specify because it would depend on what you’re keeping) and give it a bit of a two-tone look. Overall, I am VERY happy with the product itself. But I have to admit that the price tag seems a bit high for the quantity that you get. I don’t notice a difference that is large enough to warrant $10.

Great substrate/potting mix material
This Coco husk is nice! Exactly like any other brand I’ve used of this stuff. It’s a good amount of material compressed in this brick (roughly 8″x4″x2″ in size), which is nice. Works great for reptiles, as well as in potting mixes for houseplants. This is maybe slightly more expensive than other options on Amazon/at local pet stores, but overall not a horrible value I don’t think. I’d get it again.

Nice substrate
Very durable substrate. Easy to use. Just add water and watch it expand. Looks nice, low odor and very little dust. Good value.
