Easy assembly, sturdy install.
I bought two of these units to install on the stairs in my garage to the upstairs loft. It has a 90 degree turn, so these two made it just about perfect. They assemble very easily with the tools supplied with it. You will need either a hammer drill to install on concrete. I installed mine on 2″ thick wooden stairs and they are solid. Four screws per post and look good. The anchor screws for wood and the concrete anchors are included. A good product and value.

Very substantial
Bought 3 of these Vivosun rails in different lengths to surround my husband’s outside ramps. They are sturdy, and easy to assemble (although I forgot to put the caps over the “feet” before I screwed the first one down). They came via USPS (not UPS), so had to make a special trip into town to the post office to get them. There were some scratches on a couple of the rails, but nothing major that I can’t touch up with black matte paint. I do have 2 things to mention and hope the person who monitors the Amazon description notes: (1) there is no mention of the size of the top hand rail (i.e., 1″x2″) because I wanted to screw one end to the outside wall for more side strength, but couldn’t order the wall attachment hardware until I knew what the size of the rails were; and (2) there is no mention of the “overhang” of the top rail when it is attached to the legs. This also would have helped in deciding where to screw in the legs to the deck because I am using 2 sections on one side of the ramp for stability. I bought a 4-step section, and a 2-step section, so there are a total of 4 legs screwed down to the wooden deck on one side of the ramp. The 3rd rails (a 3-step section) will go on the other side of the ramp (shorter because of a screen door opening). I didn’t think one long section would be as sturdy as 2 shorter sections with more legs screwed down. Possibly, if I had concrete, it would be been better, but my application only has a wooden deck. All hardware included for wood or concrete, as well as Allen wrenches. No drill bits, though, for screwing the legs down.

It worked
I liked that it was easy to assemble but not so easy to install in concrete. The concrete lag bolts were very cheap. No drill bit size was given to drill into concrete. I had to go online to find that out. Even with the correct hole size the lag bolts had to be hammered into the drilled hole and it would bend or dis form the threaded bolt. There was no mention of how deep to drill the holes and very difficult to remove from hole once installed if not deep enough. I would still buy one again but would go to a hardware store and purchase a 3/8â redhead lag bolt and also the lag bolt install tool so as not to deform threaded portion of the lag bolt. When you buy a redhead lag bolt the drill bit size for the hole and its depth is shown on packaging. Also the rail is a painted rail and not powder coated. It scratches very easily. Ours tipped over on to concrete while installing and got severely scratched. We used a black touch up paint marker to cover up the scratches. It looked nice and felt sturdy once installed.

Black hand rail, looks nice
Bought to replace a plastic railing that was beginning to fall apart. This railing had pretty easy installation but my husband did need to get different anchor cement screws that were longer. Product is sturdy and looks great.

Suggest professional installation
The railing arrived in good condition, The instructions were easy enough to understand and all needed parts were included. That’s the end of the good news. There is no way to adjust the mounting base for a non level surface, no spacers, adjustments. The included “foot covers” are too shallow to fit over the anchor bolts once tightened, you have to cut off the screw shafts above the bolt. The finish (power coat) scratches/chips pretty easily. All in all, it looks fine and is fairly rigid.

Railing is good
The good.Rail itself if good, fits good, sturdy metalThe badSlow shipping from California, concrete shields are low quality, but the junk in box are small Allen keys,2, that are cheap and don’t fit well. The supplies wrench is worthless for the metric size nuts.Overall.If your handy, and have tools, this railing is great for the money, expect to buy better concrete shields and use your own wrenches, hammer drill, concrete bits, etc.If your not handy this railing isn’t for you.Or pay somebody.Took me start to finish say 1.5 hours to install.Paint finish is good. Packed well in box.

I was happy with how easily it went together and installed. I used a hammer drill and concrete bit to install the concrete anchor bolts provided. From box opening to installed rail was less than an hour. Once installed, it seems very solid.I give it 4/5 due to the paint finish. It rained in the evening the day I installed it. It started rusting the day after it was installed. I had some paint left over from another project, so it’s touched-up now, but disappointing that it started rusting in less than 24 hours.

These are the second set weâve bought for our stairs. They work excellent, easy to install, and worth every penny. They vacuum like regular carpet, but arenât super thick. Theyâre just peel and stick for easy install, but they donât come off with wear. When you have to replace one it didnât leave any residue or anything behind either.
