All Natural. Made from the bark of fir trees. Hygroscopic. This means it absorbs moisture and then releases it, creating humidity. The perfect substrate for humidity loving reptiles. Conducts and evenly distributes heat. Adds environmental stimulus. Allows natural digging and burrowing activity. Absorbent. Pulls icky waste away from your animal. Decorative. Provides your terrarium with that natural tropical rainforest look. Re-usable and super easy to maintain. All you have to do is soak in hot water every 2 to 3 months for fresh, clean bark. (ReptiBark should be replaced at least once a year). Smaller chips provide better moisture retention (increased surface area). Prevents live food from hanging out in your substrate (small pieces interlock).
Natural product made from the ground bark of fir trees
Perfect substrate for all high humidity loving reptiles

Used for a Greek Tortoise, Praying Mantis and a Hamster. Great stuff!
My greek tortoise loves this bedding. Well, I can’t say that for sure, since he doesn’t talk. But if he did, he would tell everyone about how he buries himself in this bedding all day and sleeps for hours on end, like the lazy jerk he is.This is perfect arid tortoise substrate. The wood chips are in nice, smooth little bits that aren’t twiggy and splintery. It’s easy to pick out his food remnants and weird little turtle poops, leaving his pen fresh and clean.I also used this bedding for a pet praying mantis. When they’re babies, they’re the size of a staple, and easy to lose in other wood bedding types. They can’t hide so easily in this stuff. When she got big enough to eat crickets, this bedding was easy to clean the cricket remnants out of, again, because the wood bits are so smooth and homogenous. This bedding isn’t very dusty. It would be an excellent bedding for rats, hamsters and mice that are more prone to respiratory infections from especially dusty wood substrates, like pine. It’s also pretty absorbent and doesn’t have much of a wood odor, so your house won’t smell like a hamster cage 24/7. (unless you like that stuff) Plus it’s very nice-looking, for wood chips.Until someone or something convinces me otherwise, this will always be my bedding of choice for my small animals.

Zoo Med Repti Bark
Repti Bark By Zoo Med very good substrate for reptiles I use this In my 55 gallon tortoise enclosure I’ve tried other substrates and this Is the one I like most lasts a very long time easy to clean due to it’s large chunks of wood very good texture would recommend this over something like coco fiber bedding plus this stuff smells like the forest and makes your enclosure look nice

Perfect for my Ball Python
I’ve used Zoo Med products for years. This “Reptile Bark” is by far the best substrate I’ve found for my Ball Python. It holds moisture well yet is resistant to mold. It is very low in dust and easy to spot clean. To do a thorough clean of the substrate (if you choose to) and reuse it, can be tricky. Putting it into a 5gal bucket, then covering with screen material and a bungee. Afterwards filling with super hot water and a cap full of bleach, draining then rinsing, is how I do it.

Great product (so far!)
I bought both this one, the Zoo Med ReptiBark, and a bag of the Zoo Med Forest Floor Bedding. The ReptiBark is nice small chunks of bark. The Forest Floor was more like shredded wood, small pieces but full of slivers and rough edges. Maybe it depends on what type of animal you’re using it for, but I really didn’t like the other one, especially when there’s this other option available. Looking at other reviews, I haven’t noticed any problems with mites at all, and like I said, it’s the other version that has splinters. The cost of the ReptiBark was very reasonable and I’m hoping the hot water refresh works well, because then the relative cost will be even less since I won’t need to buy new bedding as often.

It works great but beware the tiny splinters!
I been using this for my tortoises for 2 years now it works great and humidity keeps well but if your at all hands on with this substrait which who isn’t there are tiny tiny splinters that come of the peices that barely visible to the eye so get your tweezers …..works great tho!

Best ball python bedding at the best price
I own 10 ball pythons. Have tried every substrate around, this is by far the best one for the best price. you donât have to worry about pieces getting stuck on feeders and getting them getting stuck in snakeâs mouth or causing a blockage in the digestive system and it holds humidity perfectly.
