Customers say
Customers find these pebbles beautifully colored and perfect for turtle tanks, with one noting they match granite countertops perfectly. The rocks are larger than expected and easy to clean, with one customer mentioning the coating makes algae removal easier. Customers appreciate their smooth texture, with one noting they’re softer on turtles’ feet than gravel, and consider them good value for money. The quality receives mixed reviews, with some customers reporting many broken pieces.

Smooth large rocks that work well for my turtle’s aquarium.
These are great for a turtle aquarium. They’re larger so your turtle doesn’t end up eating any of them. When they first arrive they do need washed since they seem to come with a paper dust all over them. The colors of the rocks are very nice, having a natural look but still plenty of variety in the shades. I bought one bag for my 20 gallon aquarium and it works, but I’m picking up a second one since the first bag only covered a portion of the bottom of the tank. The rocks are all completely smooth too so your turtle can’t injure themselves somehow on them. They work great!

Great size, and easier to clean
I was thrilled to see that ExoTerra sold turtle pebbles of this size. I have a red-sided slider turtle in a gravel tank. The gravel traps a LOT of waste, so water changes are much more laborious as I essentially have to rinse the gravel multiple times before it is clean. In addition, my turtle has some strange desire to try to dig himself outside of the sides of the tank, which leads to a big hump of gravel in the middle of the tank. These larger pebbles take care of all these problems. They trap less waste, which allows the filter to actually do its job, improving water quality and making water changes less of a hassle. In addition, the pebbles are too large to be sucked up by my siphon, so I don’t need to worry about them clogging my drain. Finally, since the pebbles are, well, heavier, they are less prone to my turtle’s escape attempts, leaving a much more even layer of rock along the bottom of the tank and an increased aesthetic appeal.

Exo Terra Small turtle Pebbles
Received the product. The stones are very clean with only a small amount of powder/dust in the bag. They rinsed off easily and have a polished look to them. There is a nice variation of colors to the stones. Therre are no sharp edges to them so no danger to turtle shells or hands. One bag is enough for a 10 gallon tank. I am using them in a 20 gallon long tank and held them in place with plastic food packaging that I had in my home. This allowed me to make a small ridge for the turtles to climb out of the water and keep another area of the bottom of the tank deeper for the filter to work and as a swimming area. To cover the entire bottom of a 20 gallon tank, I would advise 2-3 bags. Now, you can compare these to those available at your local landscaper/major home hardware stores. If you have an inexpensive turtle, maybe these stones are too costly, if you have a small, fragile or expensive turtle, these stones are probably a good purchase decision. My small turtles already like to try and burrow for cover into these stones, so they like them!!!

Great product
Bought this a few months ago for my red eared slider who is known to eat aquarium gravel. I’m happy with the look, and he loves shuffling them around all day and night. I used 2 bags in a 40 gallon tank (Not a 40 Gal Breeder, regular 40 gallon) and it covered the bottom evenly and with just enough depth that he can still dig without exposing the glass underneath. I don’t have to worry about impaction with the substrate either, the large size does not fit in my adult turtle’s mouth.Make sure to look through the rocks carefully, I had to pull out a couple of smalls, cracked/chipped rocks, and even a bright red (dyed?) one that slipped into the bag. overall a great purchase for the price. when I upgrade his enclosure size, I will be buying more of these.

Amazing
I have bought so many rocks for my turtles tank on Amazon and these are my absolute fav!!! They are so sturdy and work great for a large tank. They lay awesomely and are not too small or too large. They also came decently clean.

Do Not Buy These Rocks
I’ve put this under 5 star so you will see it. Idk how these have such a high rating. Go read the one star reviews. These rocks have been horrible fro. The beginning. They will not clean, something is wrong with them. When performing the vinegar test, they fizz even after being in water for a month. I am happy this didn’t kill my turtle. I have never had this much trouble keeping her tank crystal clear until these stones. They are heavy with calcium, I suppose, because that’s what triggers fizz when white vinegar is applied. They destroyed my filter as well. Do not waste your money and put your turtle or fish at risk with these. They are no good!

Perfect! My turtle loves them
My turtle loves these rocks! The previous owner was using cheap fish pebbles and my turtle I noticed would try to eat them. so as soon as i found these i knew I needed them they are just the right size for my turtle and I notice heâs a lot happier because he can move around a lot better I used about a bag and a half of these to fill the bottom of my tank perfectly! Extremely pleased with these rocks

Bought these to make a pebble tray for a demanding Majesty palm. Despite being directly next to a large humidifier, this plant demanded more so here we are. She seems happy and is growing and these are pretty so it’s a good look. I also use them to help weigh down my cacti so my cats don’t gravity check them. I assume they would be great for turtles too, but I can’t really speak to that. For what I use them for they are pretty and work well!
