✅ Door Buddy attaches with strong 3M adhesive, but like any adhesive, it isn’t permanent. Results vary based on the surface, age, and type of paint. Also, the age and strength of the child. Recommended for babies 0-2 years old. Not suitable for forceful impact by adults or older children. Install on door and door frame only, NOT on drywall. For best results, ensure the surface is flat, clean, and dry before installing. Allow the adhesive to cure for at least 24-48 hours before applying pressure.
✅ This product includes an adjustable door strap with hook and latch. It does NOT include a pinch guard to prevent the door from closing. For Combo version with Pinch Guard Door Stopper, search ASIN B01N77TZ83.
Customers say
Customers find the door latch easy to install and appreciate its functionality, particularly for keeping pets and children out of restricted areas. The concept receives positive feedback, with one customer noting it works better than a baby gate. While some customers report the adhesive is super strong and the product lasts over a year, others mention it’s not very durable and the adhesive doesn’t stick properly. Moreover, several customers report issues with the product ripping paint off doors and being not worth the money.

Needed Something Easy for Older Hands
Grandpa has a hard time with the door knob covers and the baby gates, and he lives in the basement with us. We needed a way to keep the toddlers on the main floor while still allowing his freedom of movement. This seems to be doing the trick. I’ve installed this on an exterior door and Grandpa’s door. Both husband and I can undo it from the opposite side since the strap allows it to open for cats. It wasn’t hard to install and seems to work just fine with initial toddler handling. The final test will be Grandpa, and I will update when that happens.21 October 2024 – it passed the Grandpa test. I’ve now bought five total. These things are sturdy enough to hold when an adult forgets the strap is in place and opens the door full throttle. It keeps the littles out but allows for our cats to move about. These are magnificent.

Not using for intended purpose but working out great
I bought this to keep my cats out of a closet where I like to keep the door cracked for ventilation purposes. I was using a standard door stopper but it was so inconvenient as Iâm in and out of this closet about 100 times a day. Went looking for alternate solutions and found this. It is working out perfectly! Easy to install, adjustable and easy to use. Very happy with this purchase.

Ordered 10, and every single one failed
I ordered ten of these and installed them about a year ago (I originally posted this as five because it was for 5 doors, but I bought 2 per door). Since then, every single one has failed. They fall right off, often taking paint with them. They can also only be used from one side of a door, so you need two per door if you need them to lock from either side, and that only works if you don’t have people on both sides of the door because they can only be disengaged from the side of the door they’re on.. I’ve replaced all of them with Door Monkeys which are half the cost (if you factor in needing two per door to use the Door Buddy), don’t damage paint, and work from either side of the door. I’ve included a picture of a failed Door Buddy (complete with paint damage) and the Door Monkey I used to replace it.Also, after seeing my review, the company contacted me to offer me “paint protectors” so I could remove the Door Buddies and reapply them. They insisted this would make them stronger, so they absolutely know that they don’t stick as is AND that they damage paint; they just don’t care. I chose a refund instead, but they were only willing to refund one of the 10 I bought as a “courtesy.” An $18ish refund doesn’t really cut it when I’m actually out close to $180, damaged paint, AND the cost of buying a better product to replace them. Plus, this is a safety product, and the company seems well aware the product does not stick and is therefore unsafe.

Works but the adhesive could be better
It keeps the dogs out of rooms I allow the cat in. But my only complaint is that after having these on the door for a while the adhesive gives in. If you accidentally push the door open without releasing it, it just pops off. If They could send some extra adhesive strips for replacements that would be helpful

Almost perfect – BY FAR the best solution out there for households with both a toddler and a cat!
This very simple product does a magnificent job of allowing our cat to get in and out of all the rooms in our house that she needs access to, while keeping our 2-1/2 year old OUT of those same rooms. We have the Door Buddy on doors to:- our home office (with a cat bed next to the desk – one of our cat’s favorite spots, where she can always find some peace & quiet),- bedroom doors- the food pantry, and- most importantly, the bathroom where we keep the litter box. It’s easy to set up and extremely easy to use, and the length of the strap is pretty much perfect. There are two minor things about the design that can be mildly frustrating at times:1. The plastic slider thing that lets you adjust the length of the strap can sometimes get in the way if you want to close a door all the way. We can always get it to close properly, but sometime we need to just use both hands to clear the door, with one hand carefully keeping the door buddy strap out of the doorframe. I do wish I could always just close the door with one hand, but it’s not a huge hassle. Certainly worth dealing with, all told.2. Our toddler is VERY strong, and he has at times been able to push the door open wider than we had originally set the strap for, at which point he can slide his body halfway into the door. His head definitely doesn’t fit through the door, even when the strap is at its maximum length, but ideally, I would prefer the strap not be able to slip AT ALL.So I feel like there might still be a tiny tweak available, to improve the design a TINY bit more.By and large, I’m a huge fan of these straps.Very strongly recommend!

Love these things but it will take the paint off the doors.
We originally got these for our cat so he could go in and out of rooms and we could keep the dog out. It works great. Then we had a baby and got more for baby proofing and it works great for that as well. The adhesive does rip the paint or the door though when you take them off.

We recently transitioned our son to a toddler bed and put this on the door. Weâre renting so we didnât want any locks that had to be drilled into the door/wall. It does the trick perfectly and very easy to install.

This was so easy to install that I thought it would not hold under pressure – but it did. We use ours to keep four nosy cats out of my art studio – they have learnt to get in by hanging on the door handle and love to walk through my paint palette causing mayhem. This has secured the door effectively. Great job!

Better alternative to a baby gate. My daughter is autistic and she kept unlocking the baby gate and going upstairs or trying front door so needed to protect her safety and this is brilliant. Strong easy to install and does the job.
Amanda Huffam –
Works well, even when you use a good amount of force to test it.No more Houdini dogs sneaking into rooms they’re not allowed in!

Installed and was ripped off the door by my toddler within seconds. Only fixes to door by adhesive thatâs not very strong
