Momentum Still Going Strong
The 20+ episodes come on 3 discs, and packaging is the same as the others, barebones, but crisp and clean. Image quality is mostly fine with only a couple of shots out of focus. It’s still distracting when you spot them, but thankfully it is a lot less than in previous seasons. Audio is also fine, but there is one notable scene that starts with audience laughter even though there was no joke. This may be a weird editing cut, so I’m not sure what happened there.As I rewatch the series, Season 4 might be my favorite after the first. If there’s an overall theme, I think it’s that Frank and Carol’s pregnancy makes this step family have to put some things in perspective. But otherwise it’s the usual hi-jinks we’ve come to know and love. Dana, my favorite character, has to contend with Cody going the same college, so that creates some fun dynamics. Interestingly, many of the other storylines for the kids this year are romance-focused, like Al starting to navigate dating (it was not lost on producers that she was becoming attractive), and Mark getting a recurring, perfectly matched nerdy girlfriend. For some of the weightier material, Karen gets a couple of episodes that finds her at the center of male toxicity, and JT is given some moral challenges, both with a cafe crush, and with a lustful teacher. This is also the season we learn he has dyslexia. (A big deal that the show kinda brushes off.) Lastly, little Brendan gets to meet a Baseball star. He usually doesn’t get much, but this was a memorable one for him.All in all, solid stuff if you’re a fan of the show. I still wish the lessons learned were more meaningful like in other sitcoms, but Step-By-Step was always a show that never wanted to get too mushy (sometimes to its detriment. Emotions can be good!). In any case, the momentum was still going strong.

As with the previous seasons I reviewed I adored going back and rewatching this season.Growing up, Step by Step was one of my favorite shows. And it still is. Patrick Duffy and Suzanne Somers are golden together. Their chemistry is amazing. Even as a kid I always enjoyed them the most.As with the previous seasons DVD releases, this has the name of the episodes on the actual disk but no official episode guide and there were zero special features.Just a couple of thoughts: I don’t know why it took an act of god to get this seasons DVD. I had it preordered about a month or so before it was supposed to be released then after it was “released” I kept getting various changes in date of when I would get it (it never shipped) until finally a couple months later my order was deleted. And then shortly after that I ordered it again and it finally did ship fairly quickly.Also the cover photo on my copy is completely different from the picture that is shown when you order it. And lastly the dvd case is clear instead of black and the inside dvd holders are different than the previous seasons.

This show is one of the better sitcoms of the 90s and holds its owns today when compared to some of the garb they try to pass off today as entertainment. There were a lot of characters to write for and I was always impressed with how the they were able to provide enough dialogue for each character so that they would all remain relative. In the later years the focus was more on JT and Dana and their girlfriends/boyfriends. I hope they continue to produce the rest of the series on DVD because the later years was when the show really started to peak. Keep the seasons coming!!!

Funniest TV Comedy Ever
Well, maybe the word “ever” is excessive. But this is the funniest I’ve seen, and is consistent from season to season and show to show. Season Four is as good as Season One. This show gives no consideration to political correctness, just humor. And it also has probably the best overall cast of any TV comedy. Children are as funny as the grown-ups.

Cette 4ème Saison de notre Belle Famille continue d’être d’une bonne qualité. Dommage que je ne peux pas trouver la Saison 5, la Saison 6 et la Saison 7 de cette superbe Sèrie des Années 90 diffusée sur M6. Amazon devrait pouvoir nous procurer les Dernières Saisons de notre Belle Famille, cela serait super cool.
