Key features
House Tarantulas, scorpions, spiders, and Vinegaroons on this bioactive substrate.
This soil brings out many of the instinctual niches that many different invertebrates do in their daily life.
Not only does this mix hold a burrow, it also holds a complete tunnel when the moisture content is held at 25%-75%.
The soil’s composition allows for evaporation, which helps manage bacterial growth, a common issue in terrariums.

Good substrate for my tarantula 🙂
I am no soil/substrate expert but this stuff seems really nice. I recently decided to purchase a curly hair tarantula and wanted the best stuff I could find prior to getting my tarantula. This way everything would be set up snd ready to go for my new pet. He or she burrowed right down in and seems to be happy. I wish I had purchased the larger bag for future substrate changes. I will next time. Thank you for the quick shipping.

Excellent substrate for terrestrial and arboreal tarantulas
Excellent soil. I use for all of my tarantula species and from what I can tell they seem to like it. Holds very well for burrowing species. All I add are springtails. Stays clean. Easy to clean. Iâve used other substrates in the past and found this product to be by far superior for invertebrates. Most in particular, tarantulas. Holds moisture well and is of high quality. You get what you pay for. Highly recommend.

OMG! Best tarantula substrate ever!
First I have to say yes it is a little pricey but in my case it was worth every dollar. I have a severe dust allergy and all substrate seem to be way too Dusty. I poured this substrate into my enclosure without adding any moisture to it and there was very little if any dust. It is great and ready to go right out of the bag and I do not think I will be replacing it for quite some time. So while it may be a little pricey, in the long run it will be cheaper because it will not have to be replaced as often. I am in the process of converting all of my tarantula enclosures to this substrate so yes I will definitely be buying it again. And so should you. You will be glad you did.

Very nice!
This substrate comes highly recommended by just about every notable tarantula keeper out there and so far, I see why.It seems to have everything you could need in it. Holds moisture nicely. Holds its shape well for spiders that need to burrow. The size of the ingredients is suitable for even tiny slings. And the organic material is useful for keeping CUC happy too. (Added dried leaves and such to mine as well.)Iâve had 0.5â Cyriocosmus slings on this for around three weeks so far and everything seems well.I noticed a little bit of mold growing up near one of the water dishes but I hadnât added any springtails at that point. Added temperate springtails and now everything seems balanced. Nothing funky growing anywhere. Slings seem happy, so Iâm happy. My only issue is that I had to order this via Amazon in the first place, to avoid the crazy shipping rates. Around $25-$26 just for supplies, no live bugs, animals or plants, and regardless of the weight/contents of the package. Yikes.Hopefully The Bio Dude gets enough traffic to be able to find/qualify for lower shipping costs. Iâd love to use affiliate codes to also help support creators like Tarantula Collective but I canât justify $25 shipping for supplies when the cost to ship live (non-venomous) critters/plants elsewhere is almost half that. ðThis substrate costs more on Amazon, but itâs still cheaper ordering here than if I had to pay shipping ordering direct from The Bio Dude. (For just this substrate: $35+ via the website, or $26-ish, after tax, via Amazon.) Especially considering I only have three, tiny slings at the moment and donât need enough supplies to make it balance out.

Ts love it
Used when I rehoused my colony of m. balfouri. They appear to like it and were not stressed and started burrowing and webbing that night. My h. pulchripes has also made a nice burrow and seems to be liking the soil. Both have a live plant in them that seems to be doing fine as well. Will buy again.

Good but expensive for dirt
Works good for tarantula’s, expensive in my opinion though probably will find cheaper alternative
