Customers say
Customers find the coconut fiber brick works well as hermit crab substrate, with one noting it performs better than other materials. Moreover, the product holds moisture effectively to maintain humidity levels, is easy to use, and offers good value for money. Additionally, customers appreciate the amount of soil provided, with one mentioning it’s enough for three giant dog bowls. However, opinions about the smell are mixed, with some customers reporting no odor while others mention a bad smell. The size of the brick also receives mixed feedback.

Worked great!
For the price it worked great! But it started attracting bugs within a month. I switched to sand and have had no issue. Iâd say this is more for a weekly change basis not longer than that! My hermits are 20 years old and they didnât mind it

Essential for Hermit Crabs
This item is essential for a healthy Hermit Crab habitat. This product is very dense and hard to break apart. But once it sits out in open air itâs much easier. Mulch is good quality and lasts longer

The best for hermit crabs.
I don’t know where I read about this, but after ten years of cleaning a disgusting hermit crab cage with gravel and crab droppings, I read about the coconut fibers. This stuff is fantastic: it eliminates odors, and when you clean the cage, it’s a far less unpleasant experience. Moreover, one package of this stuff, with water, balloons to many times its original size. I watered the entire package and then scooped most of it into four Ziplocks and froze them, and used them with each cage cleaning. This stuff is fantastic and Crabby, our 12yo hermit crab, loves it: he stuff the coconut into shells and burrows into it every day.

Loved it!
Soil is perfect for my hermit Apollo, he loves it. One block was more than enough for my tank i actually have a ton left over which I will be using for a separate tank when i travel with him. Great product and great price. Super easy to set up and use!

A little goes a long way
I got this for my hermit crabs cage and a little goes a long way with this stuff. I only break off a little bit at a time and soak over night when I’m getting ready to clean their cage. After soaking it pretty much doubles in size. Once it has soaked up all the water mix is around a little and it’s ready to use.

Good quality
Very compact packaging. When water is added it provides two good size amounts for my small tank.

this brick smells like it’s ground up railway ties instead of cocosubstrate. It has an extremely harsh creosote smell. Smells exactly like creosote that would be toxic to any animal. Before I take it to a lab to get tested you need to provide the QC of the quality of the material and explain why it smells like this
