The latch isn’t my favorite. Button and slide latch vs auto swing latch. It works and is as described. Comes with easy directions. My dogs say zero stars because they are mad they are blocked from the kitchen,but I am enjoying it!

Just buy it – you’ll be glad you did
This was perfect for what I needed it for! The door opening / archway was 58″ and fit perfectly. The gate is very study and well-built in my opinion. I assembled it all myself and had my hubby help with installation – just because teamwork makes it easier. I was anxious on odering because the reviews seem so 50/50, but we’ve had it several weeks – no problem! The lock is easy to use and secure. I did pinch myself on it once, (very minor) but it was really my fault because I wasn’t paying attention.The only “con” I could really write about is that I do agree it should come with a spare part or two – but I still built it with no issues. One of the threads on a bolt gave me a little trouble but as long as you’re patient and gentle, you shouldn’t worry about stripping the threads.Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and it’s quality. I will update my review if that changes, but I doubt it will.

Decent Gate
I purchased this gate for the entry between my living room and kitchen which is 56 inches wide. The gate fits into the opening just fine so this likely would fit the maximum span noted in the product description. The installation was a bit tricky as many other reviewers have mentioned. The paper template included is only accurate for the screw hole placement and the space between the brackets, it’s about 1 inch off and it won’t work unless you have even floors. My teenager and I figured out an efficient way to install the gate without much of an issue so here’s how we did it. 1) we sized the gate to match the width of the opening and inserting the pressure bolts into the ends of the gate; 2) after inserting the plastic foot that goes in the middle of the span we pushed the end of the gate up against the jamb and snapped one of the brackets onto the lower bolt-we marked the screw holes with a sharp object; 3) then we used the paper template by matching the screw holes we marked for the lower bracket with the template and then marked the upper bracket screw holes; 4) we screwed both the upper and lower brackets onto one side of the jamb and placed the gate into the brackets; 5) using a level app on the phone to maintain level we determined where the lower bracket should go and marked the screw holes and repeated step 3 to determine where the top bracket should go. Thankfully it worked the first time. It’s not the highest quality metal nor the most decorative but it will do for our purposes. My one complaint is that the pet door does not swing both ways and it’s not removable so we’ll have to tie it open. My chunky kitty fits through the pet door just fine.

Good value, read review before installing
I use this gate to keep my huskies confined to the living area, it came with one extension which was easily assembled. The screws are cheap and easily stripped, so make sure you pre-drill your holes before putting screws in the wall (especially if going through baseboard). Their are no plastic hangers, so if you arenât conveniently on a stud – you will need to have some handy. I didnât find the paper template that comes with it helpful at all, just set it where you intend to put it, and mark a quarter inch higher so it can sit down in the grooves. Make sure you put the plastic floor piece underneath it FIRST, then measure placement. Once itâs installed, it works great.

Worked Perfect
This item is perfect for my entry way which is 53 inches wide. I have 2 cats (1 extra large), and a puppy in training. This keeps the dog from chasing the cats or getting into the cat’s food. Although the puppy can fit through the cat door right now, soon it will be too tall. This gate is sturdy and easy to install. It does require a drill, wrench, and level to install but is more secure than a pressure gate. The walk through door is convenient and the latch is secure so the dog will not be able to accidently open if jumped on. It’s made of steel so it cannot be chewed up either.

Buyer be aware. The description and picture of contents in the box are not accurate. The picture shown includes 2 extensions that are not part of this product. The description states it reaches 60″, which it does not unless you buy those two extension.I paid $69.99 plus $10.00 shipping from Revival Animal Health to learn this. I returned and was charged a 20% restocking fee and had to pay $20.00 shipping to return direct to manufacture (Carlson Pet Products). Rip off. Revival told me that I should have bought direct from them instead of using Amazon… then they could help me out more.I should have just bought the extensions from them, but I was so mad at being treated so poorly – that I paid to return and be penalized.This is the last time I will purchase anything from an Amazon Seller. Might as well deal with EBay. Only Amazon direct from here.

Easy to install, comes with a nice guide to hold up against the wall to plan out where to put the wall mounts. Also has a small stand that places in the middle of the gate to add extra stability. I’m using it to block off an area for our cat from our 70 pound german shepherd without any issues.

My only suggestion would be to buy and use anchors in the wall when installing this gate! If you h e a dog that likes to stand up on the gate, it rips out of the wall. But the product works great otherwise:)
