Imagine walking through your local park and seeing an animal so strange that you can’t even tell what it is. That’s what happened recently in West Virginia, leaving people both curious and confused.
This unusual sighting has everyone talking, as folks try to figure out what this mysterious creature could be. An animal expert even shared his thoughts on the matter.
On October 24, Brittany Keller was driving through Ritter Park in Huntington, West Virginia, on her way to work when something unusual grabbed her attention. Among a group of deer, she spotted an animal she didn’t recognize.
“Whenever I stopped to take a better look, I realized that it was something I had never seen before,” Keller told WSAZ.
She took a video of the strange animal, which looks small with a long tail and snout. Hoping to find out what it was, Keller posted the video on Facebook, but no one seemed to know. Some people thought it looked like a lemur, but lemurs live only in Madagascar, which is over 9,000 miles away.
“It would be very, very odd that there would be a lemur out in this area, unless it is somebody’s pet,” said Andy McKee of the Zoology Zone Science Center, an animal expert who spoke with WSAZ.
Lemurs are endangered but can be kept as exotic pets in West Virginia under certain rules, though they’re not common.
So, what could this mysterious creature be? McKee believes there’s a simpler answer: it’s likely a fox with mange or another condition that changes how it looks.

All 66 dogs had some kind of physical injuries; three of them were so beyond help that they had to be euthanized. Sign the petition now to tell the Senate that we must do better to protect our beloved animals
Even if that’s probably the case, people are still guessing that there might be a rare or exotic animal roaming their park.
