Dogs who grow up on the streets often carry deep emotional scars, especially when they’ve never known the warmth of a home. Lucy, a timid stray puppy living on the streets, was one of those dogs—nervous, frightened, and unsure of human touch. Her story, featured on the YouTube channel “Love Furry Friends – Rescue Channel,” highlights not only her rescue but a touching reunion that changed everything.
Two Scared Strays
Over the next few days, Lucy began to soften. She started showing affection and even wagged her tail, though she remained cautious. That’s when an unexpected tip changed everything. A viewer of her rescue video recognized Lucy—and believed her mother was still living on the streets nearby.

Rescuers returned to the area and found the dog believed to be Lucy’s mom. Unlike Lucy, the mother—now named Rozy—was slightly more open to human interaction, though still wary. Rescuers gently picked her up and took her to the vet. She was estimated to be between 8 and 10 years old and sadly tested heartworm positive, meaning she would need calm rest and care during treatment.
Rozy’s arrival at the foster home brought an emotional twist. In the video, Lucy is curled in a dog bed when her mother enters the room. At first, Lucy is hesitant but curious, her tail wagging. Then something changes—she catches Rozy’s scent. In an instant, Lucy leaps from her bed, wagging her tail wildly and jumping with joy. She climbs under her mom and circles her with excitement. It’s clear: she knows exactly who Rozy is.

Lucy and Her Mom Reunite
When rescuers first spotted Lucy, she wouldn’t let anyone near her. Though she accepted food, she bolted anytime a hand reached out. Her fear was heartbreaking. It took time and gentle persistence before one of the rescuers was able to carefully scoop her up. Even in her foster home, Lucy was frozen with fear, unfamiliar with safety or affection.

Though initially a bit overwhelmed, Rozy quickly relaxes and accepts her daughter’s enthusiasm. The two soon cuddle together in one bed, their bond reawakening. Now inseparable, the pair finds comfort in each other, and foster life becomes a little less scary.
Once they’re fully healed and ready, Lucy and Rozy will be up for adoption—hopefully together, so they can continue their journey side by side, forever.
