Storm the Weather Dog Steals the Show During Live Forecast
Fellow fans of dogs and news bloopers—you’re going to love this one. What began as a routine weather forecast on Global News Toronto quickly turned into an unplanned, heartwarming moment when meteorologist Anthony Farnell’s dog, Storm, decided to make a surprise appearance.
Storm, adorably named and full of personality, wandered onto the set mid-broadcast in search of treats. Without missing a beat, Farnell continued delivering the weekend forecast, seamlessly blending meteorology with an impromptu dose of canine charm.
In the caption for the YouTube video, Global News explained:
“Last Friday, a hungry-for-treats Storm invaded the set in the middle of Anthony’s weather report, demanding treats even as Farnell was explaining to Ontarians what weather they would be facing that weekend, and discussed the dangers posed by Hurricane Ida further south.”
The best part? Storm’s presence seemed completely welcome. As the pup strolled in front of the green screen, Farnell cheerfully acknowledged him:
“Storm is in the building, getting some treats, walking around on thin air…”

While Farnell pointed out temperatures and weather patterns, Storm casually explored the set, sniffing around and watching his dad work, completely oblivious to the fact that he was on live television.
Though technically a blooper, the segment felt more like a winning broadcast strategy. Viewers quickly flooded the comments with enthusiasm:
- “TV news broadcasts everywhere should be required to have random dog cameos.” – Kimberley B
- “I’m not sure I heard a single word of what he said, Storm had all my attention, lol.” – Lisa N
- “If I knew the dog was going to make an appearance I’d probably watch the weather more often.” – 1020Shane
Storm’s appearance even captivated dogs watching at home, with one viewer sharing a video of their own pup glued to the screen during his cameo.

Affectionately known as “Storm The Weather Dog,” this wasn’t his first time charming audiences on Global News. Storm even has his own Twitter account, where fans can follow his on-air adventures and off-duty moments.

What could have been an awkward on-air mishap turned into an internet sensation, blending professionalism, humor, and the universal joy of a dog just being a dog. As one viewer put it, Storm’s cameo was “the forecast we didn’t know we needed.”
