Very good stuff
This seems to draw more birds than Pennington cheaper products. However, of course it makes a mess on the ground due to sunflower seed pods. May try sunflower chip product next.

Feed the birds! Help support our indicator species!
Costco used to sell a great birdseed, but I don’t get to Costco as often after moving to a town without one. This one is a close second, and easily available on amazon. One thing I will say is don’t order this with any other items unless they are small and soft. Amazon will ship it with heavier items and sometimes it’s been fine, others it’s been squished and some of the seed has spilled out already on arrival. The plastic bag it comes in is pretty thin. Amazon refunded me when this happened, just something to be aware of. It’s kind of expensive, but it’s the best one I can find right now that the birds actually eat. Always comes fresh and the birds go nuts for it. It attracts a great variety too–>chickadees, bluejays, finches, mourning and eurasian collared doves, some birds have started showing up with this and I don’t even know what they are. It’s clearly good stuff!

The birds love them
I’ve been using these Pennington sunflower chips for several years now. The best thing about them is the fact that there is absolutely no mess on the ground or patio or porch and every single spec is eaten. The fact that they are broken up into small pieces is very good for the small birds and maked them go a whole lot farther. I highly recommend these seeds and this brand

A good value but…
The price is right compared to other similar birdfood I’ve seen (and bought) on Amazon. And the finches and other small birds love it. But, there is little if any niger (thistle) seed in the bag I received. So with my tall, cylindrical feeder with 6 small perches, the lack of niger seed allows the other stuff (mostly small, round seed) to come out freely which spills onto the ground. At least the rock doves get fed that way. 😎

Pennington Pride Songbird Nut & Fruit Blend, Wild Bird Seed
I have this in a feeder for smaller birds, and the finches, sparrows and chickadees really seem to like it, but they really make a mess on our patio, throwing a lot on the ground. I don’t know if they are trying to get certain seeds but they really throw a lot of the sunflower seeds out. But then the squirrels, chipmunks and doves get to eat also. I doubt if I will buy this again as it is a bit pricey for the quantity.

This is the best food! The birds seem to love it…
*I am revising my 1st review because it was meant for another brand that I purchased & this was not the correct recent purchase for my negative reply on corn fillers, which there is none! Sorry for my confusion.
Somewhat negative first. I am grateful that this 10lb bag was boxed! The sheer weight alone warrants this. When I opened the combined shipping box this is what I saw was the culprit of spilled seed scattered inside, & a piece of packing tape not at all sticky was laying on the bottom of the box. The hole looks bigger in the picture but was only about 1/2.” There wasn’t more than a teaspoon of spilled seed in the box so I’m glad for that.
Now the good: I’ve been trying all sorts of brand varieties to find the perfect brand blend that the birds will like. I feed finches, morning doves, grackles & pigeons thus far. This is a perfect blend & I will buy it again! I added in my own black sunflower seeds, & even more Nyjer seed to the blend. They seem to eat it up. Yay Pennington!

Feeds Ten Mourning Doves, Six Grackles for Every Finch!
Late last year I bought a big bag of Pennington Pride Wild Finch blend to use in a small feeder I keep on a shepherd’s hook at the edge of my garden. It has done very well attracting medium-sized birds like doves and grackles and sparrows, but I hardly see any finches. A couple in the evening, and a Carolina chickadee, but nothing else. I thought maybe it was the location of the feeder, because I had loads of finches last summer when I had it hanging — filled with a different brand of finch seed — from a tree at the edge of the woods. But the squirrels got to it, so I got the shepherd’s hook and, by chance, the Pennington Pride Wild Finch blend.
In late April, things started popping up in the garden, as they tend to do. I noticed a bunch of seedlings that looked a lot like corn; I assumed they were brought by birds from the cornfields a couple hundred yards back from my house. I pulled some, but left a few just to see watch them grow. It’s now the first week of June and it’s clear that this isn’t corn at all, but rather millet, and that they weren’t a welcome gift from the birds but an unwelcome artifact of the bird seed.
Like a wacky conspiracy theory in the head of basement-dwelling crank, it all came together: the Pennington Pride Wild Finch blend is heavy on millet. Now, every red-blooded finch loves millet — and what’s not to love? — but do does every two-bit mourning dove and sun-sheened grackle. And those big fellas eat A LOT. So, at the end of the day, at the beginning of the day I’m feeding a bunch of mourning doves and grackles, and at the middle of the day I’m feeding a few finches and other little songbirds, and at the end of the day — every day — I’m filling my bird feeder with more Pennington Pride Wild Finch mix.
I might solve my problem by buying a different feeder, where the bigger birds can’t get a toehold. But I think I’ll solve it by giving Pennington Pride Wild Finch mix the old shepherd’s hook and going back to a brand with less millet and more thistle and nyjer.

Bird friends enjoying it
I recently picked up the Bird Blend Nut & Fruit mix, and my wild birds friends absolutely love it! The combination of nuts, seeds, and dried fruit seems to be a hit. The mix is fresh, and itâs a nice change from their usual food. I also appreciate that itâs a healthy option with a good variety of ingredients.
The only downside is that it can be a bit on the pricey side, but I think the quality justifies it. Definitely a great choice for keeping the happy and healthy!
