Frightened Puppy Transforms After Being Rescued From Under Scooter
When rescuers with the Bali Animal Welfare Association came across a tiny puppy hiding beneath a scooter, his fear was overwhelming. Injured and terrified, the pup lashed out when Jen, one of the volunteers, tried to reach him. “It was so obvious to me that he had no trust in people,” Jen recalled in the rescue video.
Despite his resistance, Jen didn’t give up. With patience and persistence, she gently managed to scoop the frightened little one into a shopping bag to carry him home. Once tucked inside the soft fabric, the puppy’s fear gave way to exhaustion. For the first time in what was likely days, he felt secure enough to fall asleep. Jen named him Budji.
At home, Jen set up a safe space for her new foster, making sure he had food, comfort, and quiet. Though hesitant to disturb his rest, she knew Budji needed nourishment. With small steps, she helped him adjust to the idea that humans could be kind and safe.
Two days later, Budji was ready to meet Jen’s other dogs. To everyone’s delight, the introduction went beautifully. The once fearful pup quickly relaxed, discovering the joy of play and companionship. His personality began to shine through as he wrestled and romped with his new furry friends. The biting and growling stopped — Budji finally realized he was safe.
Even though his skin was still in rough shape, his spirit was completely transformed. In no time, Budji revealed his quirky side. He showed off an impressive talent for scaling furniture, earning the nickname “Spiderman” from Jen. His playful antics were a world away from the trembling, defensive puppy first found under that scooter.
With love, care, and medical treatment, Budji’s physical condition steadily improved. His coat began to heal, his body grew stronger, and his eyes, once filled with fear, now sparkled with trust. By the end of his recovery, Budji was nearly unrecognizable — no longer a wounded stray, but a joyful, confident puppy eager to embrace life.
His story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of animals and the life-changing impact of rescue work. Without Jen’s patience and compassion, Budji’s future would have been uncertain. Instead, he was given the chance to discover safety, love, and playfulness.
