Fluval Bug Bites is a complete fish food that features a unique insect-based formulation, enriched with multiple quality proteins and carbohydrates that are ideal for tropical fish such as bettas, goldfish, cichlids, guppies, and tetras. Insects are hunted by fish in the wild as they offer a widely available food source. The instinctive feeding habit is the foundation behind Bug Bites, which are formulated with nutrient-rich insect larvae and enriched with multiple quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Most freshwater fish are omnivores and regularly feed on insects in the wild. However, not all insects are created equally when it comes to a fish’s diet. Bug Bites are formulated with sustainably harvested Black Soldier Fly Larvae (#1 ingredient across all formulas), which are raised on fruits and vegetables for exceptional “super food” nutrition. Using a unique cultivation process, BSFL are grown under controlled conditions for total sustainability that preserves natural environments. Under controlled conditions, Black Soldier Flies produce larvae, which naturally feed on decaying organic matter. Unconsumed fruits and vegetables are used as larvae feed. The larvae consume the feed, converting the nutrients into protein and healthy fat. After a 2-week feeding cycle, the larvae are harvested and dried. The dried larvae are mixed with other high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements to offer a complete and balanced daily diet. In addition to BSFL, Bug Bites offer other excellent protein sources such as Herring & Shrimp Meal, which are also rich in Omega-3 for healthy skin, scales, fins and colors. Unlike big brand fish foods, Bug Bites are always prepared in small batches for superior control and quality assurance. The proximity of our ingredients (most of which are delivered right before production) also offers maximum freshness, which translates into better palatability.

Healthy fish approves
My betta loves them! Smell fresh and last a long time. Great quality ingredients. Small pieces are perfect size.

Great food for my betta

Great for smaller bottom feeders!
Bug bites tropical fish food: this food has become a staple in my feeding routine. Itâs a smaller food which makes it great for my smaller bottom dwelling fish. My cories and kuhli loaches love these. Even the glowlight tetras will try to catch some as it falls or pick smaller pieces off the bottom. My spotted Raphael catfish also enjoys bug bites, although he prefers the Bottom feeders version as they are bigger granules and he is a bigger boy.
This food doesnât cloud my water or make a mess, although after I drop it in the tank it doesnât last long in the water before someone has chowed it down.
Some reviews mention it sinks slowly and others mention it sinks quickly. My experience is it sinks pretty quick.

Sinks faster than Iâd like
Doesnât float as much as I would want. Sinks quickly. When my tetras can actually get a bite they do enjoy it. Well I assume they enjoy it, they canât tell me, they are fish.

Awesome! Please read if you have Glow Fish!
I have a community Glow Fish with a Pleco. Lately I have noticed them spitting out the flakes that I have been serving them for several months now. I assumed they just got bored of it, worried- I did some research and came across these bug bites. First thing that I was impressed about was their positive feedback. So I purchased and like always with prime, recieved it in just a few days.
I eagerly fed them the day that it arrived and WOW! Like many have said, my Danios went CRAZY! Almost like I added a spark of electricity to the water…the Tetras were a bit skeptical playing with the little bites like taste testing…spit, gulp, spit, gulp…finally they all gulped! The Sharks didn’t seem overly impressed but they usally just feed off the aquarium decor. BUT! After some long observation of watching them, I did see them start cleaning the gravel ALOT more, and took this as them enjoying the leftovers.
My pleco only comes out at night but he started leaving two inch poops! Yep, I think he was getting his fill too.
The best thing I have noticed is the quality of my water. The flakes were all different sizes and if they were too big, they would just float around the tank and eventually just fill my filter. These bites are all perfect size portions that all my fish seem to enjoy. Some float giving the Danios a playfull feed, others sink fast settling at the bottom for the Sharks and pleco, and some sink slow allowing my Tetras to enjoy feeding time. My Tiger Barbs go everywhere and eat up whatever….their pretty easy maintenance.
Pros:
PERFECT size for all my Glow Fish
Way less waste
Cleaner water
Much cleaner filter during canister maintenance
ALL my fish enjoy it.
Cons: honestly I have none, I highly recommend!

Has kept my fish healthy for years
Best food for my tank. Has kept my fish healthy for many years.

Feed it to all my fish
Use this for all my fish both big and small. CN find the micro size anymore but itâs a bit too big for fry and some smaller nano fish.

I have neon tetra, ember tetra, khuli coaches, shrimp and bristle noses in the tank the tetras race around gobbling them up and they are small enough to eat for them. The shy khuli coaches will come out of hiding during the day to grab a couple. Will definitely order again

A great quality food, that is well received by my fish and shrimps. The smell is not overwhelming, and is not too big a size for my small fish. The natural colour and value seem very acceptable for the price.

Ãa a l’air de bonne qualité nutritionnel. Mon seul regret ça coule un peu trop vite.
