Bought this for our 67 gallon tortise tanks. 10lbs is a bit too much. I will order half next time. You can’t really cut the compressed block smaller. No complaints though. Tortise climbed right in and seemed to enjoy the better humidity!! We also add moss and reptisoil just our preference. It’s only been a day so longevity and preference has not been determined.

Great for my snake and crested gecko
While this is a little thinner than we usually prefer for our enclosures, this does work well. It holds moisture well, and has been a breeze to clean up. We did notice a few stringy bits when breaking the bricks apart. Iâm not sure if they were from the outer packaging, but this is something to be mindful of. I gave it a 4, because of that.

Will definitely buy again. I almost always get reptichip but money is tight and the price was about $14 cheaper for the same size pack when I bought it. My one complaint is that the plastic wrapper this comes in was very thin and split open in spots so I canât cut off the top and fill it with warm water to expand it like I do with reptichip. That one issue aside it is pretty much identical to reptichip and (currently) much more affordable.

I donât know how it molded so fast
I bought this for my ball python and lizard and I genuinely wish I had taken pictures before deep cleaning their enclosures. I decided to try this brand of substrate since it came in the mail quicker than the usual brand I order, and after setting up everyoneâs new enclosures it maybe took 4 days before noticing there was a little blue mold on the top layer of the substrate. Fine, Iâll order my regular brand and switch it out when the new stuff arrives, that was today and Iâm honestly shocked at how much mold had grown on every hide, plant, bottom and sides of my enclosure including it being attached to every piece of coconut husk I pulled out today. Iâve never written a review for something before but if I can keep someone from getting this for an animal they care dearly for I want to write it. My pets are all fine from what I can see and hear but Iâm terrified that this could have affected their health in some way since Iâve never had something like this happen before.
