Very Nice Cat Scratcher
Excellent quality and reasonably priced. It is simple and sturdy, and the extra toy accessories were a big plus. I only wish it had a heavier base because I do have a very fat cat! 🙂 Overall, I do love the product and highly recommend it for families with small to medium-weight cats.

Cats love it but wears down fast
I have ordered two of these scratching posts so far and while I have been only moderately happy with them, my cats could not love them more.I have one down-scratching cat and one up-scratching cat, so I bought the first post for the up-scratcher. She took to it immediately and beat the absolute tar out of it over the course of about 9 months. By the time I replaced it, the post was at least a quarter exposed and shredded paper tube, and the remaining jute was entirely frayed and shedding.The second scratching post came with a plastic self-grooming attachment that hadn’t come with the first. I did not expect the cats to use the groomer but attached it anyway, and it turned out that the down-scratching cat had a void that only a self-grooming attachment could fill. He instantly converted to being an up-scratcher so he could spend more time close to his beloved self-groomer.The previously down-scratching cat is a hulking, dog-sized beast with thick, muscly arms, and he is utterly demolishing the second post. I can’t imagine we will get more than four to five months worth of use out of this one before it disintegrates.Overall, I like the look of the post and I am tempted to keep replacing it just to keep the cats happy, but suspect I will need to bite the bullet and upgrade to a better post for the next round.Five stars+++ from the cats, three stars from me averages to a four star product.**Updating that the huge cat destroyed the scratching post within about two weeks of leaving this review. I invested in a higher quality scratching post, and while the cats have only tepid to mildly warm feelings toward it, the post is still intact.

Good purchase, my cats use it!
This scratching post is a hit with my cats. They like to stretch out on it and use it relatively frequently for their nails. I even saw one of my cats briefly climb up on it!It’s a little wobbly so I do recommend putting the base either in a corner or by a wall. It is a but tall but that will help your cats stretch.Putting together was easy but the upper half was a tiny but hard to spin until totally secure due to the twine being prickly. If you have sensitive hands maybe wear gloves for putting together!

They don’t make ’em like they used to
I have 2 other scratching posts that I’m sure I picked up in a local store somewhere, and they’re twice as big around as this one and have substantial sisal around them. The sisal around this one appears to be the diameter of spaghetti, and probably about as durable. When I turned the base upside down to insert the washer and screw, the hole — which is half on one side of the base and half on the other — was misaligned very badly. Fortunately, the particleboard is flimsy enough that I was able to get it put together anyway. I’m not sure what the small bag of catnip is for; I can’t find a place for it. If anyone knows, please say. I’m sure my 15-year old girl will know what to do with it, if she takes to it. I’ve put it in the same location as the one I discarded that came apart after 15 years (and I hot-glued it a few times around the post). This one is cute and looks nice for now. I hope she likes it. If she’s happy, I’m happy.

Only took my boy 4 months to shred a perfectly serviceable cat tree. Awesome. May bulk purchase in future.
