I bought this for a vetta hospital tank. The aquarium was amazing at first- directions on assembly for aquarium newbies was tough. The feeding part was hard tho because of the way rim juts out, and the current was too strong even wheni put a spongy cover over the flow tube. it was great for 5 days UNTIL this morning when I woke to a worrisome sound and found 1/2 thr water on my floor and the air pump tube dripping. I have NO CLUE what happened. Amazon was great with the return, but no have to run to buy another aquarium for my poor fish in a bucket.

It really is glass, not acrylic
When we first opened the box, and took it out, it’s SUPER light, and we swore it was acrylic. Then we saw the nick at the bottom of the tank, and that tells us it’s real glass. The second way we can tell it’s real glass, is on the curved corners of the tank, glass is always a bit blurry there, where acrylic is crystal clear. This tank is blurry on the rounded edges, where there are no seams. It really should promote that as a selling point, because a lot of people want that feature. The third way to tell it’s glass, is to just tap your fingers on it, and you can hear the distinct difference.We filled up the tank above the mark that was nicked, and waited a few days to see if it would leak. So far, so good, on that front. Thank goodness!The hood comes completely off. I was emptying the bit of water we put in it, and the lid just popped right off, so that is good that it will come completely off. That’s one thing I wondered about, that no one, nor the description has mentioned.The silicone sealant is pretty messy, as you can see in the one photo that shows the deep gash. Hoping that doesn’t need to be redone. Time will tell.We are going to use it as shrimp and snail tank, maybe a tetra or two. We haven’t ordered the live plants yet, but are going to put java moss in it for sure, as the shrimp love it, and it’s easy to grow and care for. We will update, once the tank is up and running with the plants and shrimps for a bit.
