My mice like it
I was concerned my mice wouldnât like these because they didnât eat the pellets in the other mix I got, but they gobbled them up! What a relief, the other mix I got was tasty to them but not as healthy. These pellets will balance their diet a bit better. I still add some of the tasty mix they enjoyed, but make it mostly pellets in their bowl. The size of these seems quite large for a mouse, but I havenât found that they have any issues eating them.

Great food for the cost
I thought the product might be a bit stale, but when I opened the bag it was clear as to how fresh this was. It had a moistness to it that was pleasing. You don’t want stale food as that means a lot of the nutrients you want the animals to eat will have vanished. I used to buy bags of very fresh food from a not so local feed store, and then discovered that my rats would selectively eat what they wanted, so there was more food waste that I liked. With pellets, that didn’t happen.

Excellent but Disintegrates Easily
I’ve used both Kaytee Forti Diet Pro Health and Oxbow Regal Adult Rat Food to feed my rats. Personally I prefer the Kaytee brand but I imagine both are completely acceptable for adult rats. However, for rats under 1 year of age, I would probably suggest the Kaytee Forti Diet due to the higher protein content. The main differences between the two are that the Kaytee brand has a large block size, includes probiotics, and has a higher protein content. The Regal brand is about the size and shape of your average dry cat food, does not include probiotics, and has a lower protein content. Though I don’t particularly enjoy the smell of either, I think the Regal brand smells absolutely horrible. My rats have generally preferred the larger block sizes of the Kaytee brand, and I do too as when I go to clean out the cage I can more easily pick out the larger Kaytee blocks.I’ve read some concerns about the Kaytee brand having too high a protein content for adult rats, and for some adult rats this may prove true, but any rat under one year of age is still relatively young and can probably use that increased protein content. It’s not that difficult to tell if your rat is getting too much protein. If they’re not having skin issues, don’t worry about it. If they start developing skin issues, lower the dietary protein content and see if it resolves. The one thing I don’t like about the Kaytee brand is that the blocks disintegrate rather easily and there’s always a whole bunch of crushed pellets and dust at the bottom of the bag. This is true even if I buy it at the local pet shop where it hasn’t been thrown around during shipping. The Regal brand does not suffer from this problem.All-in-all, this is a great rat food and I would argue better than the Regal brand if you have a rat under one year of age. Just remember, the Kaytee and Regal blocks should only make up the base of your rat’s diet. They should still be additionally offered fresh veggies, fruits, etc. I like to eat yoghurt and then give the rats the container to lick clean before it goes into the recycling bin (that’s a huge win-win) and they also enjoy dried cranberries (very cheap at the store) so much you would think they’re crack. Broccoli is also a favorite, and if I make a dish that requires broccoli florets, they’re always more than happy to deal with the stump.

Rat didn’t seem to enjoy.
I had swapped over to this brand because the price was a lot better than what I was paying for. Both of my rats did not seem to care for or get excited about the new food, attempting to soften it up with a little bit of warm water would show that they did eat though.I would suggest sticking to what your pets usually eat, if you’re bringing home some new rats then it wouldn’t be a bad idea to let them try a smaller bag of lab block food and seeing if they’ll stick to it over pellet sized / mixed food.if you’re just wanting to feed Feeder rats or any wildlife, definitely not a bad purchase.

Very good food
My 3 rats lived this food so much! It is full of good nutrients but I probably over fed them on this. Nonetheless, the best rat food Iâve ever boughten

Arrived quickly, I have purchased this before as well, my only complaint was the bag was broken upon arrival, split at the bottom.

Arrived today. Expected pellets but half of the bag is crumbs and powder. Not impressed and won’t buy again!
