Easy to Install & It Works!
Overall this works exactly as promised and it is helpful. My cat can get through the door and the dogs can’t which was what I was looking for. It was easy to attach and adjust to the opening width I wanted. Aesthetically it doesn’t look great having that long plastic arm just sticking out there all the time, but I needed a solution to my problem and this is working perfectly for the intended purpose!

Great item for a specific need, which is allowing the cat downstairs, while keeping the dog upstairs. Really easy install, and is adjustable to ensure your cat has the room they need to get by, while still keeping the dog away. Was going to make something myself until I found this product online. This is better than I could have made on my own, since it is molded plastic and adjustable. Totally worth it- get it if you are considering this for the reasons mentioned above.

Great product
This is the neatest gadget to prop the door! We have two cats and two older dogs. The older dogs cannot go into the basement due to the stairs. We didnât want to cut the door to put in a cat door. This props the door enough for the cats to get down, yet keeps the dogs upstairs. I wish I wouldâve invented this! Great job! And so easy to install!

Great idea, but Cheap screws
I bought 2 to keep my dogs out of rooms that my cat likes..they are a wonderful idea except if you have a XL hefty cat or a narrow door area. Once the cat squeezes through the tiny screws that help it slide to different sizes start to come loose causing the thing to close and become too narrow for the cat. I tried to tighten the screws and they broke very easily with a slight twist (im not that strong) luckily the company replaced quickly because i do like that it is a solid piece that stays open unlike other flimsy bungie cord rope models that dont keep the door open. You can also lock your door with this so people cant get in but your cat has a way in (obviously hands can get through so useful only if its just a key lock on one side and nothing on the other/not just normal bedroom lock you open from inside lol) other than the cheap screws they use for the sliding part it works great to keep dogs out! And I have 80lb pittbulls that LOVE to chase my cat! They run into these things all the time and have yet to get inside the room where my cat is.. ive also locked my dogs in the room with this device and they have tried to nudge their noses and cause it to open but no luck. Very sturdy in that area if your original screws to your wall are already long and sturdy. Again the little screws that slides the opening larger and smaller need to be a better material (only if you have a very narrow door space next to a wall or a XXL Cat hehehe..normal openings with more than a 1/2 foot of space next to the opening works perfect for a cat since they have room to get through without rubbing the door or the wallâ¦other than that great idea!!

This is exactly what I was looking for
My dog loves to eat my cat’s food and is a bit too much for my elder cat, at times. I used to have set up of stuff to block the door. This helps to keep the space open for my cat and block my dog when need be. Still easy for me to go into the room. It was affordable, easy to install and just as important, it works. I would recommend them.

Protects the cat bathroom from my greedy sausage dog
My girlfriend couldn’t believe how fast and easy I installed this thing. It was maybe 5 minutes of effort. It has lasted six months so far with little issue, and can’t be pushed or slipped open by my thick sausage of a constantly hungry dog. Our cat feels very secure in the bathroom when he needs some space from the pup.Door opening is easy with this, but for fully closing it does take a bit of fangling the thing around to push back the latch enough to let the door pass.

Works but will break if not very careful.
This is my third and last time ordering this product. I like the Door Buddy. I need this product. But it blows people’s minds and breaks. The first one, my wife’s purse caught and snapped into. The second one, a serviceman over-tightened it and cracked the plastic base. In between breaks, it gets caught on every loose article of clothing and bag imaginable, unless you’re very careful. When people come over, it blows their minds. They don’t know what to do and go into this primative UNGA-BUNGA mode. They slap at it, jerk on it, pull it back, everything imaginable except to turn the door knob and use it like a regular human being. It’s maddening. You can tell this company tried to make this door catch out of thick, heavy plastic, so I can’t really blame them. 5 Stars knocked down to 3 only because this is my third time replacing the Door Buddy. If this one breaks, I probably won’t order again. But it’s a good product. Cat can come and go, my elderly dog stays put.

I canât believe there are actually reviews on here that are less than 5 stars! Itâs design of perfect in every day. It is the simplest install and most effective way to limit access to areas for pets, etc. without closing off the area. When my pup was small, I made the opening small so only the cats could fit, and as my pup got bigger, I opened the hatch bigger to give the cats more space to get through. Itâs a high quality item and keeps my very strong, 70 lb American Bully out of the cats designated space. And Iâm very picky when it comes to how well household items function – and I genuinely canât find one possible improvement for this item. When I ordered it, I thought âitâs pretty expensive for what you getâ, but I was very wrong. Great bang for your buck with this item! Highly recommend!

This gadget was exactly what Iâve been looking for!! I needed to keep my dog away from the cat food and litter box and this works like a charm! It was less than 5 minutes to installâ¦simple and you only need a screw driver! It worked right away! I like the function of this a lot – it lets my cat into the basement without letting my dog in. Installation is easy and quick, and the door closes to it without any issue. The one thing I will say against it is that it doesn’t hold its position for very long.The tension-only method of securing it in place doesn’t hold up to frequent door closures on it and it very slowly (over the course of a week, maybe) slides into the smallest position possible. My cat can still squeeze through in that spot, but it’s obviously less comfortable for him. If the stop was made with a series of holes that you can choose to put the screws through instead of just one long gap relying on tension, then it would be able to hold its position without issue which, in my opinion, would be better. Still good, and I would buy it again if needed, though.
