My two year old to grandson is really into jungle animals. He loves the book and the sounds. The only problem I had is that the camel does not stand up on its own. And that really frustrates a two-year-old.

Not great for teaching kids 2yrs+, odd translations
Overall, if you’re buying this for an infant I’m sure they will enjoy it. If you’re buying this for a toddler ages 2 years or older then the book and sounds are just confusing and irrelevant for kids. Its apparent that the book was translated from another language and not checked by somone who speaks english. Each page has odd, poorly translated facts with confusing conversions from metric to American units. Examples: “An elephant is characterized by its long trunk… and huge head with temporal glands”, “the gorrillas average height is about 5.58~5.9 feet”, “Camels.. head is small and the neck is thick long, curved like a gooseneck”, and most irrelevant to toddlers “According to the IUCN Red list of threatened species, fewer than 1,900 pandas are thought to remain in the wild”. Aside from the blurbs about the animals being peculiar, the animal sounds (while Im sure accurate) all sort of sound the same and may be confusing to children learning animal sounds. Likely because most of the animals chosen are not normally known for making distinct sounds such as the rhino, bison, zebra, deer, camel and giraffe. And other animals like the tiger, lion, leopard, and bear pretty much sound the same. The figures seem to be well made and are nicely detailed though again, for kids learning about animals the sizes compared to each other are misleading. The deer is larger than the elephant, the leopard is larger than a grizzley bear etc. I think overall if youre buying this for a 1 year old or a child who will just enjoy the figures then its a great value. If youre buying this to sit and read with your child about animals and teach them, then this will only confuse you both.
