Couple Discovers Surprise About Pitbulls No One Warned Them About Before Adopting

When Stephen and Jessica got married in 2021, they knew they wanted to grow their family—not just with each other, but with a dog to share their love. They visited a local shelter and met a tiny orphaned Pitbull who would change their lives forever. The moment they held him, he melted into their arms, and that was it. Within an hour, they had taken him home.

The puppy, later named Koby, had been abandoned with his littermates at just four weeks old. Because they weren’t “pure Pitbulls,” the breeder had no interest in keeping them. All eight pups were left in a box at the shelter’s front door and never looked back. Thankfully, Ollie’s Angels, a foster-based rescue group, stepped in and offered to take the entire litter. While most of the puppies were gray and white, Koby stood out with his beautiful tan coat—and to Stephen and Jessica, he was perfect.

The first nights at home were rough for Koby, who missed the warmth of his litter. But after his new parents gave him a stuffed animal with a heartbeat inside, he found comfort and began to settle in. Now, two years later, Koby is never far from his humans. He still loves to burrow into his blankets and cuddle up close, especially with his dad.

His expressive eyes speak volumes, especially when it’s time to say goodbye for the day. He often starts waiting by the window nearly twenty minutes before Stephen returns home, then greets him with an explosion of kisses and affection.

“There’s one thing they don’t tell you when you get a Pitbull,” Stephen jokes. “They require extreme cuddles.” And Koby is living proof. Behind the strong exterior of this misunderstood breed is a heart bursting with love—and a snuggle game stronger than most.
