Scared Dog Rescued From Busy Street, Then Rescuers Discover a Microchip Surprise
When a concerned woman spotted a small black dog running loose through her neighborhood, she feared for his safety and quickly contacted a local rescue group. The group, Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac in Serbia, responded and headed to the scene. At first, they couldn’t locate the pup, so they called the woman back for more directions. She guided them further down the street—where the real rescue began.

Moments later, the team spotted a black dog darting down the middle of the road, moving fast and clearly frightened. The rescuers followed at a careful distance, hoping the dog would eventually slow down or seek help. After a long chase, the dog finally stopped, allowing one of the rescuers to approach. In a gentle and calming moment, the man knelt down, offered some reassuring pets, and scooped the pup into a warm hug.
The dog, although scared, was friendly and well-behaved. He sat quietly in the crate on the ride back to the shelter, his calm demeanor suggesting he may have had training or a family in the past. Once at the shelter, he eagerly drank water, ate some food, and received a much-needed bath.

Then came the hopeful part—rescanners revealed the dog had a microchip. His name was Marli, and he was six years old. The rescuers were thrilled to find this clue and immediately began trying to contact his family. Sadly, they noted that in many cases, dogs with microchips still go unclaimed, often because owners have moved on or no longer want them.

With their shelter already overcrowded, the team was determined not to let Marli fall through the cracks. He deserved more than a spot in a kennel—he deserved love, care, and family. After making the call to the number registered on Marli’s microchip, the rescuers waited anxiously to see if someone would come forward.
The story of Marli’s rescue reminds us that every stray has a history. Sometimes, they’re lost. Sometimes, they’re forgotten. But in Marli’s case, fate gave him a second chance.
