Are these really Sisal? It feels softer than sisal and it isn’t as “hairy” as the twine I’m used to, which makes me wonder if another fiber or material is added. If it’s all sisal, I’d be very impressed. I don’t think the edging is made of sisal anyway; the edges are thick and very soft. The weave is beautiful when you look closely at it.It’s well stitched and reasonably thick, the same on both sides of each scratcher. The hemp cords are pre-attached, which wasn’t clear to me when I first read through the descriptions and info on the page.My cats were a bit afraid of it when I unrolled them. I hung one of them on a closet door where I’ve hung some other toys, and the other I wrapped around the top of their torn-up scratching post.After 3 days, they’re still wary of each one and haven’t used them for scratching yet. I’ll keep trying different presentations to see if they’ll get the idea.If you’re interested in getting these, it’s probably easier if your cats are already accustomed to hanging scratchers or are fearless when it comes to new things. 2/3 of my cats are a bit nervous and the 3rd one just doesn’t care. :)Preliminary impression is 4 stars — most of that is due to their good quality. They do look nice in person.

Very disappointed
I knew when I received the package it was going to be disappointing. Came rolled up in cylinder. So curled up, it will never hang properly on the door. Lessons learned ;you get what you pay for.

Not as hefty as a rope-wrapped board, but OK
Our older cat much prefers his old sisal rope-wrapped boards, which stay put better when he is taking care of his murder mittens. These mats are just not as coarse and seem a bit delicate for his needs. They may be perfect for small kittens and are light enough to hang vertically. I may staple these to a board to help provide the resistance our cat is used to.
