Update 3/5/2022: Now thicker paper! We used playing card paper originally, but we agree with reviewers that the cards should be more sturdy for children. Thanks! 384 Memory Game Playing Cards covering 192 words. Card format is simple: One card with the picture and a corresponding separate card with the matching word. Cards have color coded borders to help you quickly group and organize the cards if they get mixed up.
These cards are a great way to build memory and focus in young learners while learning words and having fun. These cards cover all the topics of our “First Words” flash card set.
How to Play: Set pairs of cards face-down on the table. First player flips over two cards at a time. If the picture matches the word, player removes the matching cards and keeps them. If the cards don’t match, player flips them back over and the turn is completed. Once all the cards are taken, the player with the most cards wins!
Cards are also great for solo play and for playing Go Fish and Old Maid.
Set of cards includes: 38 animal cards, 54 food cards, 18 people cards, 18 family cards, 42 number cards, 30 verb cards, 22 object cards, 8 clothes cards, 12 transportation cards, 8 kitchen/dining cards, 14 bathroom cards, 8 school and office cards, 28 location cards, 8 landscape cards, 14 color cards, 14 adjectives and opposites cards, 20 preposition cards, 8 emotion cards and 20 body cards.

Bought these to challenge my brain daily on short term memory.
Having typical mild older person memory lose of short term memory. Looking for ways to train my brain to remember things. I pick out three to five cards a day in the morning, look at them and put them in a drawer to see if I remember what cards I picked later in the day.

Great for English Language Learners!
These are excellent vocabulary cards to use for English Language Learners. The cards can be used face up to match or as flash cards without the words. They are the same thickness as a playing card. There are so many categories of vocabulary that I listed them on the box for easier access.Great buy!

Good
Only gave it a four as they should have written the words in the back of the card and not a separate card

An excellent resource
These cards are great for playing Go Fish or Memory. I like that the match for the picture card is a card with the description printed on it. So the child gets the visual and the words.

great for teaching words to nonverbal child
my son can match the words to the pictures since he is nonverbal; regular flashcards dont work for his way or learning or showing us what he knows, cards could still be thicker for children, think posterboard instead of regular card style

Hmmm
Not sure why they put the actual word for the picture shown on a different card – but their own logo on the back of the card with the image. The word for the image shown should be on the back of that same card – you could have twice the number of items. Separating the words and images like this â¦. Confusing for an Alzheimerâs patient – now I have to staple them together or write the name on the back and waste half the deck –
