About Us

I heard a story about a fish. A small fish swam up to an old fish and asked it, “I want to find what they call the ocean.” The old fish said, “The ocean? But you’re in the ocean right now,” and the little fish said, “Here? This is water. What I want is the ocean.” You’ve been chasing something called the ocean, but you’ve been in the ocean all along.

    Adequate…
The sponge came a bit misshapen but its fine. Doesn’t seem to be effecting its operation and I figure it will be fine after being in the water awhile. Operates as expected. I like the idea of bumping up the media for more beneficial bacteria. I can never get my sponge filters in a spot I like either so it’s nice that it can just clip of the side.

An interesting filter design with some good features
I am writing this review for the single-sponge air-driven, 5-10 gallon capacity version, as it seems that there are others under this listing including electric and USB types, and variations for different tank sizes. This is a very interesting filter product. It appears that a lot of thought has been put into its design. Although it ended up as a bit of a contraption, it is not that difficult to install and it has some very good features. The adjustable attachment bar allows you to adjust the depth at which you want to keep the filter. It is directly attached to the filter making it unnecessary to use suction cups. To me, this is very important because all suction cups eventually lose their function and the filter starts floating in the tank, which drives me crazy. The only disadvantage of the bar I can see is that it has to be attached to the frame of the tank, like a hang-on filter. This means you have to have an opening to do this. I don’t like having openings on the lid, because some species like killifish or shrimp can jump out through the smallest openings. (Heated tanks also lose more water due to evaporation when the top has an opening.) If you prefer suction cups and don’t want to deal with this attachment bar, the filter comes with suction cups that are attached to the same points as the bar. With the suction cups, it operates just like any other sponge filter. Another good feature is that the filter is modular so that you can install the sponge in any direction you want (any angle between horizontal and vertical). The sponge is shaped like a corner filter, but you can rotate it to sit any way you want. The flow pipe is also adjustable, allowing to flow the filter output in any direction you want. The filter also comes with a bag of media, which you place in the filter chamber and let beneficial bacteria grow. They also perform as weight and help hold the filter in place. There is even an additional sponge included (comes in the media chamber). The workings are simple; just connect the tubing from an air pump. I installed this filter in a 20 gallon high tank, which works fine there, but I think it may be too bulky (or all these features may be an overkill) in a 5-10 gallon tank which is what it is designed for. I still think it is a good addition to my filter inventory. The price is reasonable as well.

Did not come with suction cups
Did not come with suction cups like shown might have to cut tank lid to accommodate the hanger. Probably work work with some applications

Good design sir a sponge filter
I like the flexibility of this design, I don’t feel I have a strong enough air pump to get the filtration I was expecting. With the right air pump, this would be a great addition to sustaining a healthy environment, with the biomedia chamber.

    Garbage!
If I could give it negative stars I would. Absolutely a waste of money. Glorified aerator

    Interesting Clip-On Hanger
I ordered this sponge filter for my 5 gallon tank. It’s a typical sponge filter. If you’ve seen one, you’ve pretty much seen them all. It’s decently made. The air tube is adjustable. It comes with media balls, two sponges (one in the media ball compartment), two suction cups, and a clip-on hanger. Now, the clip-on hanger is the only thing that makes this filter unique. It’s made of plastic and it takes a bit to figure out exactly how it works. You can clip it onto the filter, and based on the size of the tank, you can make the clip longer, if needed. For a 5 gallon, you really only need the one attachment, but if your tank is bigger, you may need both. It’s a little difficult to explain how the clip works. The top hangs onto the tank, and then it has a bar that you can adjust. So you stick the filter on it, and you can move the filter up and down the bar, to find the spot that works best for your tank. One thing I will say is when you clip the filter onto the bar, it is a bit difficult to get it back off. And the adjustable pieces are also somewhat hard to adjust, depending on where you move them. It isn’t a perfectly designed hanger, but I do like the idea of it. Because suction cup can be a pain to work with. They tend to fall off or get stuck on too hard. Not having to deal with them at all is nice. That’s basically it. It’s a typical filter with an interesting clip-on hanger. Perfect for my 5 gallon tank. Nice and compact, it does its job. Not much more to say.

    So far so good
Have this in my shrimp beta tank. The plants love it and are flourishing. It is very quiet. The water comes out at a non disruptive level. I found it to be a tad bit longer than I wanted it, but still works well. Good value for now.

Il est vraiment bien pour l’instant, je pensais que la mousse était tordue mais une fois dans l’aquarium elle reprend son aspect normal. Un peu plus grand que ce que j’avais imaginé mais cela me convient aussi.

This aquarium sponge filter is a reliable, basic option for small tanks, especially those with delicate fish or shrimp. It provides gentle water flow and works with an air pump, which also helps oxygenate the tank. The clip-on design is a big improvement over suction cups, making installation easy and secure. It’s not the most advanced filter, but it does the job well for smaller setups and is a solid choice for tanks in the 5-10 gallon range.
