Not a letter opener; works for car hair matting.
No, itâs not a letter opener. Itâs a cat mat cutter. Itâs was very convenient for quickly cutting some matted hair without the dangers of a pointed scissor or a slowness of a damaging comb.

Mats are Gone, Gorgeous Kitty is Gorgeous Once Again
I have been ill for a while, and hadn’t been brushing my super-long-haired boy’s coat. I didn’t realize just how quickly it would mat up! He wound up with several large mats on his back by his tail.He is an extremely sensitive cat, and me teasing these knots out with a comb wasn’t going to happen. If I even accidentally tugged at his fur a little too hard he pitched a fit and took himself off to some corner to get over his fury. So I had to work in short sessions, tackling a little at a time over the course of a few days.In between copious amounts of Zoom Groom brushing on his face–which he would tell you is the only real way to be brushed–, I would slip one of these cutters down and work on a mat. These cutters were easy to hold, sharp enough to work very quickly, and safe enough that I knew even if Mr. Sensitive flew off in a rage, neither of us would get hurt.I know they’re not necessarily meant to be used this way, but they also worked to cut out a couple smaller mats completely once he and I had conferred and made the decision that he wasn’t going to tolerate another thirty seconds. I just turned the cutter perpendicular to the hair direction instead of parallel and slid the blade across close to the skin, and in a flash the pesky mats were gone. Now that I’m doing a little better and his beautiful coat is somewhat back under control, I’ve found a couple knots starting to form because he’s still not getting brushed as often as he normally would be. It’s been easy to use one of these the correct way and cut apart the knot while saving most of the hair.I like that there are five, so if one gets dull it’s no big deal to grab a new one. And for the price, you can’t beat that. These do what they’re supposed to do, and I’m so glad they do! My gorgeous boy is back to gorgeous and can spend his time admiring himself in the mirror once again, while I know that I have insurance against any knots that dare to show up.

Not suitable for my cat.
If your long hair cat is difficult to groom to cut out mats, skip this. It functions like a letter opener, not a grooming tool. Tried one, cat wasn’t going to sit still while I tried to contort it into the proper angle, donated the rest.

Works very well, but be very careful
Very efficient for taking nuts out of the cats here however be very careful. I took down one starve because of safety issues. This blade is wide open and the first thing I did was slice my finger and Iâm usually very careful. I would advise you putting on gloves when you use these to do that cat hair because cats move and your finger gets on that wide open blade would advise children not use these.

Removes knots easily
Easy to use and doesnât hurt or bother my cat. He usually hates to be bugged too much but these take the knots out of his long hair easily.

Doesn’t piss my cat off
These are really easy to use, the blade isnt super super super sharp, so if your cat has thicker fur, you might have to do a gentle sawing movement to release the mat. I think the thin part tickles my cat. She always head bumps it when i bring it out. I would only use this with light mats in turn with constant brushing.

Knotting comb.
I was told that this would help get rid of knots from my cat’s coat the big knots. Though it got a couple out it was hard to use. And took a while before it took the knot out. Or rather I should say cut the knot out. It actually knit my cat at one point and he was sitting very nicely for me while I did it. I was not comfortable using it after that at all

Not very good for long hair cats
Itâs sharp and will cut the hair. But if you have an extreme long hair cat like ragdoll or Persian itâs near impossible to use. The rounded tip of the plastic will not go through matted fine long hair. I do not recommend this.
