Customers say
Customers find these mealworms to be the least expensive form of mealworms, with higher protein content per serving than regular mealworms and strong shells that last a long time. The product receives positive feedback for its appearance and quality, though opinions about chickens eating them are mixed. While some customers say they don’t smell bad, others report a nasty odor, and several customers note that the mealworms are dark in color.

Quality, easy to use. The chickies love it
This is a good product. The meal worms ate fresh, crispy and plump, and the bag smells kind of nutty when you first open it. All the.birds love it! Good value

Chickens come a runnin’ for these!
This Amzey Dried Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Larva has higher protein per serving than mealworms which I had used for years. When I switched over to BSF from mealworms the chickens, being the picky eaters they are, were a bit reluctant to take a bite. But when one brave hen started to annihilate those little buggers, well the rest is history. Now, those chickens come running for their BSF fix! Feeding BSF helps when the girls are molting or when they are laying to keep them healthy. I recommend Amzey Dried Black Soldier Fly Larva for your flock!Great product, great price!P.S. I rated the Flavor 5 Stars based off my chickens reaction to serving them up these BSF larva!

Good value, but the chickens werenât crazy about them at first
Another UPDATE: I guess they needed to get used to them, because they started eating them. Maybe they had a different taste, maybe they got hungry, but they are eating them now. Iâm canceling my return.UPDATE: This is the 4th brand of BSF larva I have purchased since I started buying in April. The chickens arenât so thrilled with these, while other brands they couldnât eat fast enough. They walk away from these.I buy BSF larva for someone elseâs chickens o care for,& this 11 lb box is the best valid I have found. These fly grubs are smaller than another brand I am finishing off, but as long as the chickens like them,& their egg shells stay strong, thatâs ok. The bag should be resealable, like all the other brands I have bought

Chickens didn’t like them too much
Not saying it’s a bad product, just that it wasn’t for them after always giving them mealworms. Some chickens are just so picky…Maybe if you haven’t started them on anything they might like it more but mine didn’t like the switch.

My chickens LOVE these!
My chickens love these BSF grubs. Like most, I started with mealworms (which they also love), and graduated to BSF larvae because of the calcium content. I have oyster shell available, but the chickens barely bother with it. They haven’t started laying yet, and I wanted something to supplement their layer feed, to lessen the chance of an unpleasant surprise when they begin laying.Like the mealworms, I use these for flock training. I pick each chicken up, and hand feed them while I hold them. This keeps them used to being handled, in the event that I need to move them or give medical care. Afterward, I place my ladies in a nesting box, and hand feed them again to encourage the use of the nesting boxes.UPDATE: All of my ladies are healthy and laying! Eggs have strong, thick shells. I do recommend purchasing a sealable container to store these in. The bag that comes in the box isn’t resealable, and we had some mold from condensation in the remnants of our first box. Yuck! We composted the spoiled grubs, purchased a new box, and kept on. This probably isn’t an issue if your grubs are kept indoors.Regardless, great product! Our eggs have a deep yellow-orange yolk, and taste noticeably better than grocery store eggs. I know people say that about all homegrown food, but this is the one instance I can say it’s actually true. BSF grubs forever!

Chickens LOVE THEM!
Best price per pound. Buying small bags is a waste of time and money.
