Problem Solved!
I recently purchased a baby parakeet to replace one that died. I usually purchase my parakeets from Pet Smart but not anymore. They now are maditorily banned. I understand that a vet will charge 100.00 to remove a band. These pliers arrived today and after a wildlife friend joined me to hold the parakeet the leg band was removed by me with ease..two cuts and the band was off. I was shocked how easily it cut with no harm to the bird. These shears cut so easily the bird did not notice anything; no pressure on the leg, nothing. If your bird come banned I suggest removing it with this tool asap. If you wait too long leg growth may not leave enough space to get the tool through. My new bird is very happy without that band and I am very pleased with the results. Excellent purchase.. No harm to bird.. Thank you seller for a great product. Thank you too for very fast shipping.. one day. Purchasing one of these tools from China will take a month. That is a month that the bird may not have.

Dangerously sharp point.
For the least expensive leg band remover on Amazon, this works. However, the pointy tip is very sharp. If you have any way to file the point, do it for your bird’s safety. Otherwise, don’t point it toward your bird’s leg when you cut. Make sure the bird doesn’t move, and with a steady hand, slide the blade under the ring and squeeze the handles very very hard.

Good little tool
Purchased this to remove leg ring from parakeet. Work very well and was very sharp. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING IF YOU ARE REMOVING A LEG RING. Could very easily cut a birds leg. Better yet, purchase this tool and have a professional/veterinarian remove this tag. (Not all vets have this tool laying around.)
