Good Coral Dip
I use API Melafix Marine as a coral dip. It’s perfect for new arrivals and helps me keep out critters that I wouldn’t want in my system. This stuff kills all of the worms, stars, and crustaceans on the new additions. It’s also good as a coral dip for corals with damaged flesh since it acts as an antiseptic. I follow the instructions on the bottle and add the product during my 45 minutes drip acclimation process. I have also tried it on fish, but I don’t recommend it. The fish in the container get very lethargic and begin to lay down on their sides, similar to a freshwater bath. I’ve tried it twice, at different doses, and different lengths, but didn’t see a benefit to using it before or after quarantine.

Life Saver! The best I’ve used!
Iâve been in the marine aquarium hobby for about 8 years now. Unfortunately, I have had to deal with more than one infection on my fish. Melafix is hands down the best remedy for fish diseases I have ever used. Iâve had to treat ich inside my display tank more than once, and it clears the fish up in a matter of days. Copper free, and reef safe, it is a great natural medication you can feel safe about adding to a reef display. Copper Band Butterfly fish and Hippo Tangs are known to be ich magnets. Simply adding this to my display tank in the suggested dosage cleared them up. I can assume that the tea tree oil is soothing to the fish as they stopped glancing off the rocks within a few moments of the Melafix getting into the water.One of the benefits I feel is understated with Melafix is treating and curing fin rot! Early on in the hobby, the first saltwater fish I bought was a Clownfish from a less than reputable national âpet storeâ chain. I bought 2 actually, and one passed within 24 hours. The other started showing symptoms of fin rot. As a newbie, I didnât know what to do, and it was progressing quickly. I ended up setting up a quarantine tank and placing the sick clown in the isolated system. The fin rot had progressed up to where she didnât have a tail anymore. It had progressed up to her third stripe. I had almost given up hope. She was dragging herself along the bottom of the tank the day I went looking for anything to help. I didnât expect her to be alive by the time I got home. Thankfully, someone recommended the Melafix as a last ditch effort. He told me that her tail would never grow back, but she could possibly be treated.Thankfully she was still alive when I got home, and I started dosing immediately. Her response to it was almost instant. Within a few days she was swimming around with purpose. After a week, believe it or not, it looked like her tail WAS actually growing back. Long story short, she made a full recovery⦠and her tail DID grow back! She is now a full grown healthy beautiful Clown fish. Oh, and by the way⦠that was 8 years ago and she is STILL alive and in my tank! Melafix is a great product!

This Product Works!
I was looking for a product to help my marine tank, and this is a product that I trust. On three different occasions I have used this product and it has SAVED my tank. I had two clowns with a bacterial infection where they had little white specs growing on them and after using this product for a week, the specs had completely disappeared and I have not had the problem since! I also had a Xenia coral which lost its tips and after using this for ONLY 2-3 days the tips started to regenerate. It also saved a green birds nest that was starting to bleach and after dosing my tank for a week the coral starting to regenerate and it stopped my coral from bleaching.

Works for Reed tank. Corals do not like it, but just follow instructions until issue is resolved. Will kill good bacteria also and boost red cyonabacteria

Best Product Ever!
Last Sunday, I woke up to find 6 of the 9 fish in my tank dead. I was absolutely devastated considering my tank was fully cycled, my levels were prime, and my aquascape was perfect for the fishes’ needs. Some investigating led me to believe that 1) most of my fish were already sick when I got them two weeks prior, and 2) it was most likely a bacteria in the tank water that killed them. My three remaining fish were not looking well and had severe cases of fin rot. After doing a 70% water change, adding some aquarium salt, and adding the API Stress Coat the first day, I began treating the tank daily with Melafix along with my 25% water change every other day. It’s now Friday, 6 days later, and all of my fish fins have almost completely healed! I am beyond stunned by how fast this product has worked and how well it’s done. I will continue to use this until my fish have fully healed and I will forever recommend this product to anyone who asks! Thanks so much for saving my fishes’ lives!

THIS stuff works and works safely.
Of all the things they sell to rectify issues with your fish – and I’ve bought far too many of them – Melafix has become my ‘go to’ product if a fish has an issue. It’s ‘natural’ and will not harm anything in the tank. I have one fish (saltwater reef tank) that just gets an issue on or around it’s eye from time to time and I use this and to my relief, it heals it ever time. If a fish gets cut, or bitten, and you need to prevent infection, this stuff works. I have used it according to dosing directions and for generally at least 10 days of daily dosings – and it works every time. Reordering more now.

Crashed my tank.
I donât know if it works because I have a beta in the tank and read after putting in one dose that itâs bad for bettas. So I did a 50% water change and put in some carbon.A day later, my tank showed ammonia. Another water change and some prime and now I have nitrites again. So I guess it put me into a mini cycle.So, advise, only use for dips or in. Hospital tank thatâs not cycled.
