Perfect size for nano tanks or terrarium
Looks great in my nano tank aquarium
Amazon Customer –
Good qaulity.
A little bigger than I expected but not super large. About 1 inch diameter. Very round and add a unique look. Crevices and surface area are good for beneficial battery.
Tyler James –
Extremely fine grain
So fine grain that itâs like large dirt particles just floating around the tank. Had to clean out tank completely and go buy real rocks.
Brakaian –
Good, but needs thorough rinsing, and bag is small
The sand is nice but I was surprised how much dust there was. I had to rinse it about ten times before the water got clear. Even then it took about a day of running my tank filter until the water wasnât a bit murky. Also the package is smaller than you might think. I have a ten gallon tank and ten bags of this didnât even quite leave an inch of coverage. You probably need a bit more than one bag per gallon. The color once wet it more like a medium red, not purple. Itâs pleasing but not how it looks dry. Sand seems good quality. My Corys, shrimp and snails seem to like it more than the substrate we had previously. Didnât appear to do anything to water chemistry which is a plus.
Juanita –
Very nice.
I was skeptical about black gravel, but it added a nice touch of beauty to the tank.
Corrine Hayhurst –
Toxic
Thereâs no easy way to rinse rock but the chemical smell would not go away after rinsing for an hour.

These mini lava rocks are incredibly beautiful…
I’ve been wanting these since I set-up my first tank & just finally ordered a bag. They really are beautiful & new male betta seems to really enjoy them. 12 lava rocks in the bag.
Krystal –
Cute
Love the color

These rocks are like shards of glass! My Betta cut his whole body badly from bumping into them while exploring his new tank. However, sigh, Amazon was great and refunded my money. I guess that is a win. My fish has since recovered, but these should not be marketed for Bettas. Their fins are too delicate. They also were supposed to be all black, but had brown granite looking rocks in with them that looked like poop. Not attractive. Do not buy!

Not even enough to fill the bottom of a bowl too small for a betta. Maybe fills half a can of soda. I thought it was extremely fine gravel but it is more like coarse sand. A sand that is nothing special to deserve such an price. 5x more expensive than a pocket of coarse black sand for nothing more.

I would not get this again for my fish tank. It is horrible to clean . You can’t even use a fish tank rock cleaner. And it is way to expensive for the small size bag you get. And it is not safe for the fish
