Ordered as my son wanted green sand for his frog tank. We have african dwarf frogs. It took a lot of rinsing the sand. Before I could put it in the tank. But I expected that, I also used a net with no holes to scoop out the sand that was still floating. I would recommend it to others just know what you are supposed to do.

You guys. No. I’ve had aquariums since I was a kid, I currently run an 80 gallon saltwater reef tank, I’ve been at this a long time and experienced a lot. Never before have I seen sand like this. They have absolutely no business selling this as aquarium sand.I bought this sand to do a pasture like tank build for a friend. This was the only green sand (to look like grass) I could find, labeled as being for an aquarium.The particle size on this is like powder. It latches onto air instantly and floats. Like, I had a 2″ layer of sand foam on the top of the water that took me quite some time to figure out how to get rid of. (A towel, capture the sand and use it to wring out the air underneath the water. Make sure it’s a garbage towel cause it’s gonna get stained) Any time you pour water back into the tank, it has to be done slowly or else you’ll just make more sand foam. And I also have little pieces of sand foam resting on the bottom too.The color is nice and green, and so is my water. I’ve worked with a lot of sand over the years, it settles out within a day. This has turned the water a wonderful green and I tried letting it sit for three days, still a decent amount of green tint. I have since been filling, stirring and emptying hoping to remove the finest grains of sand/color in hopes of salvaging the $40 I spent on 10lbs. I’ve filled and drained this tank about 8 times now, this sucks.All in all, this stuff is absolutely terrible. I almost never leave written reviews on stuff, but I just couldn’t let someone else waste their money on this. It shouldn’t be sold as aquarium sand and I can see virtually no reasonable aquatic setup that this would work well in.Pictures are the tank after I let it sit all day, and the wonderful sand foam you’ll spend hours dealing with.

ONLY 1 BAG NOT 6 !!!!!!!!! Very fine sand.
Update Amazon refunded my money and let me keep the one bag.This sand is very fine, a lot floats and doesn’t sink even after rinsing. The sand also seems to not pack well and may leave too many air pockets for anaerobic bacteria.This listing clearly states you will get 6 pieces each piece being a 5 lb bag of green sand. It lists the weight as 30lbs. I only received one 5 lb bag for $26 what a rip off.

this is false advertising.like others have stated this is not aquarium sand. Do not put in tanks with live animals!!!it holds air pockets in the sand and floats forever and if you try and sink it this only creates more floating sand no matter how long you let it sit. waste of money and false advertising
