Lifesaver: Keeps baby fish, shrimp, and snails from getting sucked into hob filters, power heads or canister filters by simply putting a pc of this pre-filter sponge over the intake.
Improve Filtration: Does a good job in catching flake fish foods, plants and any other large particles floating in the water keeping the tank cleaner and last longer between cleanings.
Maintenance: Rinse the sponge roll periodically based on the bio load of your aquarium tank. The material holds up well to being rinsed and reused and allows great water flow.
Includes: 6 pcs of pre-filter sponge (Note: The hole doesn’t go all the way through the sponge. They come flattened in a vacuum bag; just unpack and rinse them and these sponge filters will puff up to normal shape and size.)

Work Great Soak First
I recently purchased the AQUANEAT 6-Pack Pre-Filter Sponge for my aquarium, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! These sponges are a game-changer for anyone looking to keep their tank clean and their aquatic pets safe. The sponges fit perfectly over the intake of my filter, preventing baby fish, shrimp, and snails from getting sucked in. They also do an excellent job of catching debris and large particles, which helps keep the water cleaner for longer periods. One of the best features is how easy they are to maintain. Just rinse them periodically based on your tank’s bio load, and they hold up well to repeated use. Plus, they come in a vacuum-sealed bag, so they puff up to their normal size once you unpack and rinse them.Overall, the AQUANEAT Pre-Filter Sponges are a fantastic addition to any aquarium setup. They provide both mechanical and biological filtration, ensuring a healthier environment for your aquatic pets. Highly recommended!

Works great
These work amazing I have an axolotl tank and a beta tank and both like very low flow water and on my axolotlâs tank, I was able to put one of these on the outflow bar for my canister filter and one on the outflow tube for our chiller. They fit perfectly and immediately cut down the movement to the water. Now the only movement I have on my tank is the bubbler my betta tank has a small internal filter and these were a little bit big fitting on it. I was able to kind of maneuver it towards sitting on there now if it falls off, I most likely will have to put a zip tie or something on it but either way itâs also helping in that tank these are must have just taken them out of the package. I put mine in water for about 30/42 opened up the middle a little bit of water getting in there and then was able to fit it right onto my tubes

Functions well
I’m still using my first one out of the box. They fit well on my filter and help keep fish from getting stuck. They are sturdy and work well at assisting with filtration. They are easy to rinse out and replace

Perfect pre-filter for Aqueon aquariums
My Aqueon Minibow 2.5 aquarium holds Emerald crabs, Hermit crabs, and some Nassartus snails. They live in saltwater. These filters help to collect food debris and algae that cloud the tank. They cover the inlet on the filter unit. This reduces the buildup on the impeller, but debris will continue to reach the Aqueon filter pad. When the filter was near the substrate, two things happened. An Emerald crab ate the debris or climbed the filter. It also hid under it. (It probably was molting or hates the bright aquarium light.)These pre-filters are affordable and easy-to-use. So easy to use and they work well!
These are a must-have for any aquarium owner with a cascading waterfall filter. These sponges are the perfect size, easy to install, and do an amazing job of keeping my aquarium clean while protecting small snails and shrimp. I highly recommend these for protecting small creatures that live in your aquarium and for ease of use!

Not as pictured…
The pictures you see are not what you’ll get and are not tight enough with having to cable tie them in place. These come in a thoroughly flattened envelope within an envelope within another envelope. They are incredibly flat and in a pouch shape not round or cylindrical as shown in the pictures. The instructions say to let them soak for 5-10 minutes. Did that and they puff up a little larger but still are somewhat pouch shaped, not really cylindrical. The foam included is also not as coarse of material as shown in the pictures. They are much more dense foam and will require more suction power to draw water through them. These will decrease flow ability of your filter because of the smaller hole sizes of this sponge material. I also have problems getting them to stay on the intake tube adapter and had to cable tie them. I might as well have wrapped a dish cleaning foam square around the tube. The ones they specify for Aquaclear 20 are the right length but way to big of a hole and fit very loosely. Not real thrilled with either the flattened shape (they are clearly manufactured as pouches in shape), or the grain of the foam. I’ll be lucky to not have to remove these for cleaning daily due to the small openings of this foam clogging. This is more like final stage foam filtering than the very coarse grain wanted. Just not the same size as pictured at all. I expected some reduction in flow. But while not closely measured, I would estimate water intake to now be less than 1/2 of what it is was without them. I wanted good flow but the ability to protect shrimp and snails too. They do that but at a reduced flow.I left 3 stars as they might work for a day or two in an emergency but are not well suited for Aquaclear filter intakes due to the finer grain and very loose fit. A smaller HOB might be somewhat useable as they don’t pump as hard, but expect 1/3 to 1/2 the water movement and your water will likely warm up too.

Fits Fluval 305/405 filters
We got these for our Fluval 305 and 405 canister filters. My husband slipped them over the intake tube after leaving off the slotted end piece. They fit nicely and are not impeding the flow…We just decided to get a bunch of platy and molly fish for a community tank. Knowing these fish breed like crazy he out the sponge filters to protect any fry.

Works Great
I read quite a few reviews and many complaints that the shape was wrong. Yea out of the bag they are very flat and square. If you follow the instructions and soak them for 10 minutes they puff up as expected. You can see in the the photo that one on the bottom is after soak and the other two are directly out of the bag.

Fits well but clongs very quickly..

0.6 inch instead of 1 inch so won’t fit on my intake, foam is really soft and very fine holes which will quickly clog instead of the large courser holes that will allow adequate flow. very poor quality compared to what is shown in images.

This sponge does not look like the image, itâs way too fine of a sponge. The sponge should be coarse and not be filtering such fine particulates. I also doubt most home aquarium motors would be able to handle the extra power required to suck water up and would overheat or break. Donât buy this product.
