I added airstone to make it quieter
Great price, works fine.I added an airstone. The airstone That came with my pump was a little round ball and it didn’t fit in the Cage of the Sponge filter but I made it work by cutting part of the cage and wiring It back together the best I could, and then slipping the sponge back over it. There are online videos to watch about how to do all this. Adding airstone makes it much quieter. Excuse my cloudy tank in the video… I am in process of treating that problem.

Great little sponge filter.
This sponge filter is perfect for my shrimp tank. It fits nice and discreetly in the corner of the tank, and hides well, even behind the young plants. In a few months, you won’t even be able to see it. I wish I could say the same for the heater, but that should should get mostly covered soon as well. The sponge is fairly fine, so I should not have any issues of baby shrimp trying to hide in it and getting stuck as they grow. It seems to be doing the trick. I did an empty tank cycle with it using Dr. Tim’s ammonia and some sponge squeeze out from my local fish store. The water cleared up nicely, and the ammonia levels dropped out. The plants, snails and shrimp all seem to be very happy.

Hereâs how to set it up!
For all the people who are struggling to set it up like I was, hereâs how:You donât need to disassemble anything. Take the long soft tubing, put it through the hard plastic cylinder/tube and connect it to the top of the filter. Then put the hard plastic cylinder/tube right on top of it. Thatâs it. Connect your soft tubing to your air pump, and youâre good to go.As for my review, it works well, comes with attachments to help with flow (I havenât used them). Without those attachments, the bubbles are pretty strong and noisy, the water has lots of movement up top, but some of that may be up to the air pump you have. Iâm using two different air pumps for two sponge filters, so I believe itâs more the filter. Itâs a typical sponge filter in that regard. It doesnât like to stay at the bottom of the tank, but it doesnât float. Once the whole filter is in, itâll sink a bit. My tips: cover what you can of the base with substrate, have no tension at all on the tubing, and perhaps use a heater or decor to hold it down if needed. It works ok without being completely stuck to the bottom, though. Biggest thing is no tension on the tubing.I have two bettas, one that is spunky and one that is old (yes, in separate tanks). Both seem happy with the filters. The old one has some trouble swimming but doesnât seem bothered by the water movement. Will be unplugging to feed them flake food, though.Good value for the price, a little bigger than I anticipated, 8/10 recommend

PERFECT
WAS HAVING A BUNCH OF ISSUES WITH MY OTHER FILTER, AND GOT THIS ONE. HOLY COW, THIS THIG HAD MY TANK CLEAR AS CAN BE IN MAYBE AN HOUR. THIS THING IS A CHAMP! I MISS THE OLD SOUND OF WATER FALLING INTO THE TANK, BUT THE SIMPLICITY OF THIS THING, AND HOW GOOD MY SHRIMP TANK LOOKS NOW, I CAN DO WITH OUT.

Great for my betta
Iâve got a ten gallon tank and this isnât too much flow for a large finned betta. Recommend.

Great for beta
Works well, the suction cup didnât really hold up for me, but I just wedged the unit behind some decor and the glass wall so it works quite well for me

Suddenly noisy?
I like this filter, it fits nice in the corner of my tank⦠but right about a month after having it running, it got noisy. I cleaned the filter out and a day or two after cleaning it, it starts to making this a noise that is hard to describe. Spurting? Armpit farting? Not sure. Itâs quite loud though if itâs the only thing on in the room. I can hear it through my earplugs while I sleep. Seems to be working normally still though. We cleaned the filter out again, took it all apart, and canât find how to make this noise stop.
