A Big Surprise to me
After 15 years, my Eheim 2217 went down. While waiting for my replacement Eheim to be restocked, I purchased this Tararium filter just as a stand-by. What a surprise to see the strength of the motor and the effectiveness of the filter for such an inexpensive price. The fish have no problem with the focused jet and the noise level is manageable. Let’s hope it can give me half of the life span as my Eheim has.

A 5 Star No Go
It works awesome. Too awesome for my 40 gallon pond. The product listing says 40-150 gallon. Itâs waaaay to powerful for anything under 75 gallons. The water movement is too great for the fish and they suffer as a result. This unit needs a ton of water space then add lots of decora or rocks situated in house shapes to make hidey holes the fish can go in when they need a break. The jet is powerful and it moves the water too well. The problem is you can only turn the flow down to a set amount which was still too much for my pond. Itâs really perfect for an extra large setup though and I can totally recommend it for that. The filters are mega and the filtration system kicks major butt. It has two monster filters that easy to remove, wash clean and put back in.It is a really great thingâ¦..for a large set up only. In my case, I have to return it but as a lifelong fish tank owner, I can say itâs a fantastic product. So winner winner chicken dinner if you have a very large setup and need a system to accommodate it.For smaller setups, keep looking.

Best filter
I have had a 100 gallon aquarium for last 16 years. I have gone through about 6-7 filters due to hard water. This is the easiest filter to set up and clean out. No buying expensive replacement filter. Clean out takes 5 minutes in the sink. It adds a lot of air to the water and does a good job cleaning up. I have had it in for about a month now and love it.Caution- donât buy too big for you tank. It does have a powerful jet to move a lot of water. Too much pressure in a small area can over stress your fish. Place it to one side of your tank so there are areas that donât have strong currents to give fish a break and/or add areas(coves, plants, coral, decorations, for the fish to get out of the current.2 month update- the suction cups suck and the filter continues to falls off and blow rocks and plants everywhere. Seems like it has lost power already and not picking up as well. We will see how long it lasts

Does a good job
My turtle enjoys destroying anything I put in her tank. She finally gave up when she couldnât tear this one apart. Itâs easy enough to clean and the suction cups work well.

If I wasn’t worried this would have killed my fish, it would have been funny
So first of all, when I plugged this in, the force with which it filtered the water was enough to knock it off the wall even with all three suction cups in place. This had as much to do with the power of the pump as it did with the terrible suction cup placement, as the cups only anchor the pump, but not the filter itself. This caused the outflow tube to function as something of a jet engine, sending the whole apparatus launching into the aquarium, secured in place only by the power cord.Even closing the air valve to its lowest flow rate, this thing is WAY too powerful. The listing has it at 40 to 150 gallons. My aquarium is 75 gallons, and even submersed fully in the water, the force on this thing was so high that water coming out of the pump was spraying out aquarium and splashing on my walls. While frantically trying to remove this from my tank, the air tube fell into the tank, resulting in a “water in, water out” jet action that caused the whole filter part of the apparatus to spin violently in circles and wrap the air tube around itself. Finally, as I was removing this, the filter portion came detached, leaving the pump…gear?…exposed. This was also spinning aggressively as I hadn’t yet unplugged the device. This in turn caused some pieces of the pump to fall apart in my fish tank, where they will remain until I can fish them out. And yes, I should have unplugged the pump first, but honestly the thing came apart so easily, and the pump is so aggressive, that I would be concerned that the filter could come off on its own anyway under normal operation, exposing the death gear to the fish in the tank.Oh, also, the instruction sheet is bad, even for translated instructions.Attaching some photos and videos…ignore the laughter and commentary.0/10 would not recommend for keeping fish tank clean and health, but 10/10 provided some great slapstick comedy.

Turtle pump.
Great pump super powerful. Just make sure your waters deeper than the pump is tall. Itâs a great wave maker. The air flow valve and the air flow tube lack a lot to be desired but product still works on high flow which is what I needed. Product worked great for months then it just started working intermittently. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesnât. If you get one start making plans to buy another it will only ladt a matter of months most likely. Works great while it works tho.

Update but still AMAZED
I didn’t expect this thing to be so good! Super quiet and effective!!! Great buy. Update: still a great buy but way too strong for a 55 gallon tank in my opinion. So I simply put a prefilter sponge on the output tube and easy peasy my fish can swim easy

Amazing. I will never go back to a canister filter again.
I read the other reviews and was hopeful and Iâm so glad I gave it a chance. This thing works ten times better than the insanely expensive EHEIM cartridge filter I got. Less mess, noise is on par with any filtration system or bubbler (doesnât bother me at all), and my tank is so nicely aerated and. Lean. I have replaced all my bubblers and my eheim with it.Itâs much easier to clean and less mess than a canister folter, also. My tank is 129 gallons.

This thing is a powerhouse. It gets the job DONE. Taking it apart to service it is incredibly easy, too. Yes, it’s a bit loud but with how much water it moves that’s not surprising. And at this price I think it’s well worth it, it’s an absolute beast!!

It works wonderful, but not so easy to clean for a turtle tank.Plus the oxygen line never stays up or out of the water, so itâs really of no use.And a bit to strong of water flow then I had wanted but it keeps it clean for the most part.

I had to turn the outlet towards the rear panel so that it would stop uprooting my plants and exhausting my fish. Still far too powerful. But I do have crystal clear water, but probably need to get something else as it will probably stress and exhaust my fish too much.It is also difficult to take apart for cleaning every week. The top falls apart too easily, and the filter media canisters are very difficult to take apart. Should be the other way around!

As you can see in the video I have a 120 gallon tank. Before Buying this filter pump I used two filters plus two aerators. This filter pump has eliminated the need for all that. My fish really enjoy the current it creates also. Excellent product at a fabulous price. 100% satisfied.

Very powerful if you’re looking for a power head it is on par with others of similar power. The aeration system is really nice as well for specific types of fish, or river like setups. My plecos like oxygenation and this does the trick. The filter media provided is a decent course media, probably won’t take out finer particles. However, it looks easily replaceable with other types of media. It does hum loudly when you really stop and listen. But for the price it’s really the only thing I don’t like, and easy to get past that. The airline was kinked. The diffuser they send cracked when I tried to install it on the airline. But really those are super cheap to find elsewhere. Best as a secondary filter/power head. Not bad for the price thoughPros-Doubles as a power head-Good aeration system-Easy to clean and disassembleCons-It hums fairly loud-Airline and diffuser sent are basically garbage
