Natural Cholla Wood 3 Pieces 6” for Shrimp habitat and food treat, Hermit Crabs, Plecos, Aquarium Decoration, Lowers pH, Hideouts and Chew Toys for small pets and Reptiles, Thorn Free Dried Organic By Awesome Aquatics Cholla Wood pieces are shipped to you completely dry it is recommended that you rinse or boil and soak before placing them in your habitat. For aquariums simply soak them in water in a separate container for 24-48 hours until they become waterlogged and easily sink to the bottom of your tank, or they will float around for the day until they saturate. It is best for an established Tank that you soak them for a few hours in similarly conditioned water before adding in the environment. In a dry environment for hermit crabs, reptiles or birds, it is best to boil and then bake them to full dryness so that you clean the cholla cactus of any bacteria. They are cleaned but best to always take precautions since they were stored and shipped. All natural organic thorn-free Cholla Wood is safe for all types of pets. Pets such as dwarf shrimp, snails, pleco and fish enjoy swimming around and hiding in these hollow holey pieces of wood. Other pets like hermit crabs, chinchillas, hamsters, rabbits and all kinds of reptiles the cholla wood is great in cages and tanks to climb rest and bask on the beautiful pieces of wood. Parrots, cockatiels and other birds use the cholla wood as a healthy chew toy. As a natural plant product the dried cholla cactus husk will slowly lower the ph levels in your aquarium that many shrimp or aquatic pets prefer. The approximately 6” x .5-1.25” logs do release small amounts of tannins. You can reduce this by boiling, rinsing and soaking the wood before placing them in your tank. These are Great
These are awesome and at a great price. So far, after day one putting them in the fish tank, only one piece of Choya wood has naturally sank to the bottom. It is surprising as other reviews claimed it to take up to three months although I am still waiting on one more to sink because I put one initially under a rock and allowed two others to float just to test how long it takes for them to sink to the bottom.I would recommend this product because it is at a decent, fair price and the quality is outstanding.Update:They all sank to the bottom of the aquarium within 72 hours with minimal tannin leakage. These were the smaller 6″ three pack.Update 2:After having a wonderful experience with the smaller ones, I decided to get the larger 12″ XL and wow, such great quality and the diameter was surprisingly large but still thick. These have heavy tannin leakage and will take about 2 weeks to sink by themselves, but you do need to keep these fully submerged to get them to sink faster (same with the smaller driftwood). These XL versions are highly recommended if you have the space but if not you could simply cut them with a circular or table saw (the latter is preferred). The price is pretty high for the larger driftwood pieces but well worth it in the long run. Very nice, natural aesthetics.

Wonderful, good size for smaller tanks. My shrimp love it, and the tannins are very beneficial

Shrimps best friend
Made the mistake of having assassin snails to counteract the pest snails but they were getting my shrimp after all the pest snails were gone. Bought these and my shrimp looove it! Provides great hiding places, helps the natural look of my tank. A little prep work involved but itâs worth the time and money. My shrimp are loving it!

My shrimpy babies love it
I boiled it and rinsed before I added to the tank like others said. As soon as I added it in, my shrimp went to check them out. They havenât been off of them since. I havenât seen them go inside of them yet, but even with them in there, it gives added places to hide. The larger one float, so I had to put the rock on top of it. I also had to use a metal straw to poke through two of them to remove the blockages inside. It was very easy. They look great, quality is good, good value, and will work well for my little shrimp.

Perfect for a shrimp tank
I only use these in my shrimp tank and the shrimp really love them. I boiled them for a long time to get some of the major tannins out, and to get them to sink. Even though I boiled them only one sank fully to the bottom, one sank halfway to the bottom, and the 3rd floated around for about a week before sinking. I would not recommend these. If you have smaller fish as the holes are small and it’s hollow inside. I could see a guppy or tiny fish could get stuck, But for neo shrimp it’s perfect.

Fish and shrimp love these
The drift wood looks great in a natural looking fish tank, and are very versatile, as you can use it to encourage fish/shrimp breeding, as decoration, or just for a small animal hide. The drift wood is very durable, it is a good size, not too big to be too big to fit in a fish tank and not too small. The only bad thing about these is that because they are light and hollow, they will float to the top of a fish tank unless partially submerged in sand/gravel/rocks

Good quality natural Cholla wood that you prepare and place. Soaking it first helped it sink
I needed Cholla wood to create shrimp hides and it’s good for my water. This was 100% natural. I did prepare it by doing a light boil in a deep pot for a few hours, released sediment, rinsed a few times in filtered water and my shrimp loved it. Makes a great aquarium hide. I’d buy it again….
