Good quality, dog door worth the money!
This dog door is fantastic! It is made a really strong material and I believe it hold up well against the elements. I love the fact that it has three flaps. I can definitely tell a difference, especially going through the winter that it helps prevent the extra cold air from coming in. The only downfall with the three flaps is that it is too heavy for my little Chihuahua to use. We still have to let her out using our sliding door, which is kind of annoying, but she wants to go out a lot less than our beagle. The lock feature is great as we cover the door every night to prevent animals or other creatures from coming in or even to prevent theft. Our beagle has absolutely no issue going in and out. It was easy to install. I think it is reasonably priced for the quality you get. I would definitely recommend this door to anyone in the market for a good quality dog.

Nice product
I had a Hale door for years in previous home and loved it but decided to give this lower cost door a try because of the great reviews. It was an easy install and it looks like it will hold up nicely. It is slightly lower quality than the Hale but it will do just fine.

Highly Recommend! I Wish I Had A Metal Dog Door Sooner!
I had been buying the plastic brand dog door for about 13 years now and in that time I had to replace the entire thing 4 times as well as replace the flaps, which seemed to warp or tear in no time at all, just about every year and at times twice a year which always annoyed me. Now granted I have always had big dogs, along with my now 15 year old Chi, but it was a âlargeâ size dog door so I expected it to hold up to said large size dogs. So when the plastic frame broke yet again this time around I happened to come across this one and decided to give it a shot after reading all the positive reviews and especially because itâs metal and not plastic.
I canât comment much on the installation as we already had the hole for the tunnel to go through the wall which is the most difficult part of the install imo and exactly why I had a contractor do it 13 years ago when the first one was installed. Also, because my own personal handyman hubby is excellent in just about every department, but not so much when it comes to drywall/woodworking stuff.
Another plus for me is that this dog door is the same size as the old plastic one which made choosing it that much easier. Itâs almost as if they knew I would be fed up with replacing the plastic one ð
That being said the rest of the install wasnât very difficult at all. I took tips from other reviewers about using longer screws for added stability as we already had it framed out with 2×4âs and had reinforced underneath the tunnel since at the time we installed the first through wall dog door we had Kane dog who was a 105 lb Bully rescue that we sadly lost to cancer 2 years ago and who I miss him every single day even though we have since welcomed two new rescues into our lives. We now have a 95 lb Great Pyrenees/Bully mix and a 55 lb Belgian Malinois/Staffordshire mix who will be putting this large dog door to the test. We also put insulation all around the tunnel, added good quality expandable weatherstripping and of course put a good sealant around the edges of the exterior side which is against vinyl siding. Also, the flaps feel thicker and heavier as well as have a stronger magnetic closure so hopefully I wonât be replacing them every year, but time will tell on that and I will be sure to update if itâs even remotely like the old ones.
I havenât had it long enough to comment on the stability of it, again time will tell, but at least I no longer have to worry about the frame cracking and breaking which leaves me very hopeful.
It also wouldnât be fair for me to speak of the energy efficiency yet because I rarely close the doors and my basement is not well insulated so itâs always cold on the unfinished side where the dog door is, but I will come back and update my review later as I am planning on using the doors now since the dogs arenât going out as often with winter here and being forced to have unhappy walks in the freezing rain. Such pampered pups! I also purchased a second door so I could close off both sides which I think will help greatly with the efficiency, especially overnight. These metal doors are WAY better than the plastic one that came with the old dog door and have a far superior locking mechanism. Not that it would prevent someone from kicking them in if they so dared, I donât believe any through wall dog door systems are tough enough to withstand that, but thatâs when the actual dogs would come in handy. I always put something very heavy like a refrigerator (no joke) which is not easily moved through that small of a space in front of the door when the dogs go on vacation with us and Iâve never had a problem, even with the plastic door.
Overall I am very happy with the switch and feel this through wall dog door system will hold up much better than the plastic brand I spent so much money on since having it and therefore I feel my purchase was well spent especially during these difficult times where most of us, at least I am, are spending less on nonessential items. I highly recommend it!

Worth it! Very pleased.
The installation in my house was quite a bit more complicated than the Baboni instructions anticipated (no fault of Baboni’s), so I didn’t use the templates or any of the screws or fittings other than the white plastic screw-head covers. It’s a good thing I’m handy with power tools, as the installation was not for the timid. It might be easier for those whose situation can make use of the templates, etc. The bottom line is that the dog door fits very well in the holes I made in the interior wall and exterior siding, and once the housewolves figured out how to push through all of the flaps (one thinner translucent flap on the interior and a double-flap that includes an opaque, insulated layer on the exterior), they have been doing great with it. The door is made of sturdy metal, and the two telescoping halves fit together well. The main thing I really, REALLY like about this dog door is that functionally NO air passes through. I could not be more pleased about that. I haven’t yet used the metal lock-out door, but it seems to slide in the tracks and lock in place as intended. And of course I don’t yet know about the durability of the flaps themselves. That’s probably the Achilles heel of the door, so if you find reviews from people who have used theirs for a long while, I’d pay attention to the durability aspect. Five stars so far.

Small is the purrfect size for our cats
Easy to install. Pick a spot along the wall with no wiring to deal with. Metal frame is heavy duty. This product would have received five stars but the plastic flaps do not want to hang straight down (and seal) during cold weather.

This is the best built dog door made I think!
I think this is one of the best dog Doors made it is made out of solid steel. It is well made. It has three flaps, including an insulated flap just inside the outside flap to help keep the temperature from getting inside whether that be hot or cold depending on the season And as you can see in the picture I like that it has a latch so that the door that keeps critters out can be held just above instead of having to be kept over to the side or somewhere else where our old one used to have to be it would fall and scare our dogs this way it is always handy and ready to drop whenever we need it. we really like this dog door and we have been very pleased that we bought it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a very good dog door And I think the price is excellent for the quality of the product.

It came well packaged. It’s a high quality item. Great instructions. I had a contractor building an outdoor cattery and so his “window and door” guy installed the cat door. Our challenge was that it turned out our exterior wall was thicker than the cuff of the cat door could accommodate. So he had to build an extension for the inner and outer pieces to slide into (you can see that in one of the pictures). However, the benefit of that is that if we want, the magnetic strip on the bottom of the door can now clip up against the exterior cuff which means that the cats don’t have to push through two flaps (you can see that in the picture where the cat is approaching the door. We thought the double flaps might be scary for them, but the motivation to be in their cool new indoor/outdoor space helped them to get over their hesitation! It works great, it keeps the draft out and the locking door is great for nights when we don’t want them going outside. I would buy it again.

I had a carpenter fit this pet door in the front wall of my house. Didn’t take him too long, looks nice and neat, happy to have the cover when not in use. Not in use for very long so can’t comment on durability but looks solid.

Great exterior cat door. Well made and great install instructions. The magnetic flaps are strong so cats do have to learn to push a fair bit. We had one door magnetically stuck to the top of the shoot so they could learn how to use it with just one door at first. That worked really well. Overall very please with this purchase. I work in the animal industry and recommend this to all my friends!
