The original Audubon bird call. Recognized by multiple generations of birders and outdoors people, the Audubon Bird Call has been made and tuned by hand in the USA in the same way for over 75 years.
The bird call’s sound is produced by rotating the wooden cylinder against the cast zinc plug. Various bird sounds can be accurately imitated by varying the pressure between the two surfaces while twisting back and forth.
Originally conceived by songbird hunters in Europe, the bird call attracts birds by creating the illusion that other birds are in the area.
Be sure to keep the instrument dry; a small amount of the included powdered rosin, used occasionally, will renew the bird call’s voice.

Keep it on your key chain!
I use this on my keys and whenever I’m out for walks I’ll see what calls back to me. Small enough to fit in my pocket no problem and it’s fun for everyone, not just kids! Build quality is pretty stable, value is great, and it’s dead easy to use. Love the wood appearance and it’s a nice fidget toy too

I’ve enjoyed using this! It seems to work to attract birds to the feeders after filling them.
It seems to particularly work to attract cardinals, chickadees and titmice and their presence attracts other birds. It’s fun to watch them cock their heads and listen to it through the front door! It doesn’t seem to make much of a sound and it only comes with a tiny bit of resin, but you can order more resin, which I did, and keep it working well. And when I use it, the birds show up 😀

Makes a variety of bird sounds. You do need to save the little red capsule with the pine resin. Only problem is getting small refills for the resin

This little bird whistle really makes realistic sounds. I took off a star because the teeny amount of rosin which is included (it is in a small capsule). If you need more you cannot purchase it in small amounts. I donât want to have to buy a big bag-( I know most would go unused)

Powder capsule won’t open
My husband loves this. The only problem is that the powder capsule will not open. I guess that this isn’t meant to last very long.

Foolproof and uncannily birdlike. Instantly drove my wife crazy.
I’m really impressed by how bird-like the sound is from this little piece of wood rubbing against metal. It’s amazing how easy it is to use with no instruction. I’m not sure yet if it will fool the housefinches on my deck, but it did immediately drive my wife nuts, so that could be good or bad depending on your intended use.Also in case you’re wondering, the little pill pictured with it isn’t just to show the scale: it’s full of powdered pine rosin, which the package instructs you to sprinkle on to restore its sound if it ever loses it. I had one of these bird calls when I was a kid and used it for years without any added rosin, so I’m not sure how necessary that is. But it’s a nice touch. This one feels just as sturdy and well made as the one I had years ago.

Aside from arriving earlier then expected, I found my new bird call to function excellently. Not only is it fun to use but when I feed the neighborhood birds, they all come after I’ve used it .
