    Actually a decent size!
I bought this for guppy fry that were getting too big for the dinky little breeder box I already had, but were not yet big enough to move to the six gallon aquarium I had set up as a grow-out tank. (When you put them in too big of a tank too soon, I find that they waste a lot of their energy for growing while looking for food, exploring, etc.). This box gave them twice the space of the old one, maybe more. Very easy to clean. Like most boxes of this kind with the slits on each side, I donҀ™t trust it to provide adequate water flow. For this reason, I lift it halfway out of the water once a day to make sure toxins are not building up in the container, and let some of the uneaten food and poo flow out. The babies were a little confused by this initially, but it doesnҀ™t really seem to stress them out. (TheyҀ™re only a couple of weeks old- at this point they just think itҀ™s normal to suddenly have half your water disappear for a moment. What do they know? Lol.). I also put a wad of Java moss and some hornwort in there so that probably two-thirds of this was basically a jungle on their scale. I highly recommend putting plenty of plants even if you just use fake ones- otherwise the bare empty container will stress the bebbies out. Finally, I put a ramshorn snail in the container to help clean up- like having a Roomba under the high chair, haha. The babies were fine in this box until about three weeks of age. They are now in their grow-out tank and doing well.I have not tried this to separate mom from babies, yet. The next lady to go into labor gets to try out the new maternity ward. But I would not even try it in anything smaller than this because putting them in tiny containers stresses them out a lot. This one, with plenty of plants in it, is large enough that it might be worth a try. IҀ™ll update this review after I see how that goes. But, just as a nursery, this is a great little box.

    Perfect
The small is SMALL. One of my Neon Tetras fell ill so I needed an isolation box for it. It comes with a divider, since the purpose is for breeding. Honestly I feel like one small fish can fit comfortably. The quality of this product is really nice as well, had no issue with it staying in place on my 20 gal tank.

    Fits fry
I didnҀ™t upload any photo because I didnҀ™t want to edit my device settings for photo access but it looks just like the photos depicted its small but it worked well, the suction cups were not initially attached and thus i never used them. I did at some times tape the lid on incase it somehow sunk. Unless strong or determined or multiple fish are looking to be free that shouldnҀ™t be necessary. It worked well overall. the middle layer divider only stayed down well when the little bar divider was also in place below it which was fine. I often didnҀ™t need to use those pieces as I was using it for isolating a aggressive fish or introduction of new fish. I had tried having pregnant fish in there but I never timed it right and I felt bad for them and let them out each time IҀ™d put one of the super pregnant appearing guppies in there after they didnҀ™t give birth within some timeframe of good length. I did however later use the container to hold the baby fry guppies after the fish gave birth in the main tank area and I put some live plants in and it held 20 fry easily and none appear to be able to get out. IҀ™ve seen them try. I had premature baby fry in the main tank at times they were like a piece of teeny broken lead from a mechanical pencil. Those arenҀ™t what they should look like and while I separated out into another container those ultimately died and likely wouldҀ™ve been able to swim through the cracks. When the fry are born healthily theyҀ™re a bit bigger than a piece of rice and clearly visible and cannot get through this container. I did need to move out the fry to clean out food that got gross after a couple days. CanҀ™t say if any pregnant fish would give birth in there. I would say if you move them midway through once they start theyҀ™ll likely continue; it would help if itҀ™s not the fishҀ™s first time giving birth as its overall less stressful for the fish.

    Perfect for guppy fry!
Absolutely perfect for guppies. I have had trouble finding something with small enough slots that the fry donҀ™t fall through and this does the trick. I have 2 of them in a 10 gallon for my 3 females and itҀ™s perfect. I also like that it actually fits together; some of the breeding boxes have floating interior parts and this doesnҀ™t.

Good for price but super annoying to set up
I think it’s working great so far, and my female guppy is definitely getting the break she needs before giving birth. In previous times, I’ve had to use kitchen bowls and fihsbowls because I cannot (right now) own a temporary tank for the fry and mother while she is in labor, so this works great. But it was SOOO annoying to put together! There’s no instructions because the thought is that you can figure it out yourself (easy for me but possibly not easy for others) and the bottom piece that divides the fry and the fish is only secure with the divider piece in. But what if you only have one fish? You take out the divider- oh no! The piece is loose! Gotta fix it! What? It’s not staying secure! After a while, I realized I would just have to take the risk and leave it loose-then I put it in the water and it floats right up.Another thing, the bottom piece does not go in easy. It pops in but is either tilted all the way to the left or all the way to the right. I used my plant tweezers to carefully put them in which worked fine, but is a problem that needs to be fixed.Overall, it’s fine but annoying to put together. Works great so far and I think it’s a great product with just a few problems.

    Guppy delivery room!
I liked the fact it’s small for my fish (even other live bearers), the water flow is equal, the plastic is sturdy, it’s functional by sitting level with suction cups against the tank, it looks tidy and visuals are clear, the heat is the same as the main tank. Just in the nick of time.

This box is great for isolating certain fishes/shrimps from your tank. It fits inside my tank. The slits are big, so small fry/shrimps will slip through. I use this mainly to as a temporary cull space to remove shrimps that I donҀ™t want. I find that itҀ™s better to place it under an air stone so that the fishes/shrimps you have in here have some air, as the water does get stale.
