    Beautiful
This stuff looks great in my tank however you do need to do a lot of rinsing. As long as you rinse it really well it will only take a day to clear up and will make your tank look great.

    This will cause cloudy water!
I bought 150lbs of this stuff for my 130G cichlid tank. I used a bowl when filling the tank to disperse the water so not to stir it up. After it was filled the tank had a slightly cloudy appearance to it, which is to be expected for a new tank. My tank turned into a dust bowl when I turned my wave maker on though and it takes a few days to clear.Washing this sand very good is almost counter productive because aragonite sand has a lot of minerals in it which is a benefit to your tank. If you wash it for hours you are going to lose those minerals. Just be patient and expect your water to be murky until the sand and bacteria establish itself in your tank.

Cheap for the size and worked fine
I used this sand for a 8g rectangle aquarium mixed with a plant substrate for nutrients. I had to wash it out at least 10x, until the water was cloudy, but not milk colored. However, they have a lot of sand for a good price. The sand is a nice cream color, which looks good and makes the dark gray rocks stand out. The plants are doing well and the betta, Wonder, is also doing good. The first day it was cloudy, but it got better fast and by the third day, the water was crystal clear. I am happy with this sand, and would buy again if I need more for cheap. Thank you Petco!

They really should rinse this first!
Wow I forgot to rinse and I know better but it’s been a very long time since I had a fish tank and the black sand I just put in the other tank barely needed rinsed. I put seed in the tank, put this white sand product on top, and filled the tank 1/4 full and immediately regretted it! It caused a sludge and I had one of 2 choices: I could throw it all out including the seed and start over or plan B and spend many many many hours filtering the water. I went plan B and spent the entire day trying to remedy the situation. I have never seen such a mess! They really need to give a warning.. rinse for 30 minutes prior or truly regret it.

    Absolutely Amazing!
I got this sand for an elderly family member that is homebound and just getting into this as a hobby. We sent him 40 pounds of his sand as he has a 55 gallon tank. Small I know, but for his second tank, pretty. he read all the reviews on this product and took to heart. he built a dual tank system with a filtration system system exchanging water between the two tank. After 12 hours, the exhibit tank was crystal clear. After 24 hours, you can’t even tell there is water in the tank. Invisible. He asked me to write this review and to let you know this is an awesome product and he highly recommends it.

This gravel is a learning experience.
If I knew then what I know now I would have passed on this gravel type. The color and look of it is fine. One of the problems I had was rinsing. I had to rinse and rinse it, and it made no difference. I would later read that if you moved it around it would stir up white dust no matter how many times it had been rinsed. It does eventually settle once you have it in your tank. But I had to run two filters for days before it settled. And because it does this whenever it gets moved again even now 6 months later, I can’t properly clean it with a gravel vacuum cleaner. Using one of these would just stir it up again. Which leads me to the third issue I found. You are going to actually want to vacuum because the color of fish feces and snail feces especially when they have been eating wood is a lot darker that the gravel and even though I have filters and an internal filter that blows air on the bottom their dark poop is a contrast to the gravel and stands out. For some reason it does not go underneath the gravel but instead stays as a layer on top floating around just above it. In order to clean this out I have to take my gravel vacuum and just barely go over the top of the gravel sweeping the poop up while trying not to disturb the gravel. I can never go into the gravel and clean it like I do with my other gravels. I’m really not sure what other people do about this. This gravel is a learning experience for sure. And it isn’t exactly cheap.
