Stops feed dumping and restores PEACE during meal times! LOVE IT!
Both horses we are boarding are doing great with this Feed Rite bag. One appears to have used this type of feeding method in the past. But the other was a bit surprised by it. As soon as I had it clipped on him, he started to back up for about 8 feet. Then he nervously walked around tossing his head to get the feed where his mouth could grab the feed. Finally, after about 10 minutes of this, he figured out the if he tilted his head forward, all the feed went to where he could easily consume it in the bag. So, did any of the feed come out while he tossed and turned his head? I couldn’t see where any came out of the bag at all. And trust me, Scooter likes flinging his feed by stomping on the edge of his old feed bucket. I do believe I saw his disappointment that none of it ended up on the ground with this feed bag. And mind you, this was before I could properly adjust the feed bag strap. Once he settled down, I was able to adjust the feed bag’s sizing strap. I also readjusted gentle Candy’s sizing strap as well as she neared completion. So now when the feed is in the bags, the elastic strap is stretched to allow the bag to be at the right depth for eah muzzle. As the feed is eaten and the load lightens, the elastic strap pulls the bottom of the bag gradually back up, keeping the feed always at a comfortable eating distance at the muzzle. The pocket under the head did exactly what it was supposed to do in keeping the feed from falling out the back when a horse lifts his muzzle up in the air or shakes his head high from side to side. The solid fabric bottom as well as the 3 inches of solid fabric along the bottom back side of the feed rite bag kept the supplements from falling out. The entire front and on up the face of the horse is all mesh…plenty of air flow for breathing. And since Candy has her own unique way of letting me know she’s finished her meal. I have seen how easy it is for horses to drink lots of water while wearing this Feed Rite bag as that is her signal to me. In fact, they could take the water with them! Scooter is still not getting the concept of peacefully letting me know he is finished as he starts shaking his head up and down fast as if trying to fling the bag. So I am still working with him to stop the behavior. But he too has figured out he could get plenty of water while wearing the Feed Rite bag. So far, the only person to brave enough to use the Feed Rite bags is myself. My husband and the neighbor who owns the horses both are afraid and prefer the wasteful feed buckets. But that is the guys’ personal problem. I encourage any who consider using this bag to give it a try and to go in prepared that it may take a little time for each horse to adjust. Give each horse space to adjust as well, and avoid being in the same corral if you know one may be a bit jumpy at new things. Our horses actually are more peaceful toward each other now when I use the feed bags versus when I do not. I don’t even have to block off sections to keep one from the other’s feed. They both can eat side by side in peace. The bonus to the horses that I know they actually like is they can look around the entire time they are using the Feed Rite bags instead of being penned up to keep each from taking the other’s feed. It took about 3 feedings for Scooter to accept this was actually a better deal for him than the feed bucket stomping he was doing, too. Horses do have a sense of humor, and these two know they got the guys jumping through hoops using the feed buckets, but with me, they know this is how I roll. Fun and games okay, but not at the expense of feed. I have not had any problems with either horse while placing the full feed bucket on either, and I have not had any problems from them when time to remove. In fact Scooter affectionately nudges and rubs his head on me about once a day. Horses are smart creatures and know a good thing once they know how it works and trusts the handlers.

Best feed bag I’ve used in 10 years.
Great bag for feeding older horses who drop their feed when eating. No more waste of feed and supplements with the solid bottom. The mesh sides are less confining, allowing horses to breathe normally and also allow them to drink water with them on (for those times when those little chores take more time than you thought as the horses were eating!) It keeps other horses from stealing feed so everyone gets what they are supposed to. I like the solid flap inside the bag on chin side – keeps feed in bag if horse has tendency to flip head while eating. The expanding elastic strips on each side of head strap is a good idea also. I like that there are no inner seams that trap feed, so it’s a breeze to rinse clean. Other bags I’ve used were too small for horses’ faces, so had to cut seams to make it fit around muzzle and bag was too deep for them to eat out of unless they mushed bag down on ground to eat, which eventually wore the bottom out. I will definitely buy these again, if they wear out! Update : November 13, 2020 . I reordered another bag this year to replace previous bags. One bag had a worn out bottom, horse scrubbed bottom on ground to get all the extra pieces in edges. Duct tape worked another year. The other had a sheep chewing outside mesh until there was a hole, horse didn’t seem to mind sharing, I did ! I love the improvement of the seam is now on outside of bottom of bag. Grain is not getting stuck under a seam that used to be in the previous model. Sheep went over rainbow bridge so that’s not a problem anymore. Great product and will buy again. Senior horse will be 33 this winter so not sure how much longer this bag will be used by her. Younger mare will be 18, so she will probably inherit it sometime down the road. These are great sturdy bags !!

Good product but received a product with a missing stitch around the inside rim, a bit of feed stays stuck behind because of it . But still saves all the feed being dropped from regular bucket and prevents horse to eat sand from the dropped feed
